Zar’epour emphasizes that the Ministry of Communications is working around the clock to provide the best quality internet service for the people.
According to IDEA, once again, the Minister of Communications claimed that he and his colleagues at the Ministry of Communications did not experience any disruptions in the internet service. According to Zar’epour, they are working around the clock to provide the best quality internet service for the people.
“Eisa Zar’epour,” on the occasion of Government Week, described the achievements of the Ministry of Communications in a special news conference. In response to the program host’s question about the current status of the country’s internet quality, he stated:
“We have initiated a major effort in the Ministry of Communications to fundamentally address the issue of internet network quality in the country. However, this does not mean that people have to wait until 2025; rather, we are taking action at various network layers. We must provide the internet with the best quality for the people.”
According to him, neither the Ministry of Communications nor its managers experience any disruptions in the network, and they are working day and night to provide the best services.
Zar’epour also mentioned the establishment of a committee by the President to oversee internet quality and said, “We fully embraced this initiative and have announced both short-term and long-term plans in various areas alongside our programs. Part of it has been implemented, and God willing, the quality of the internet will improve day by day.”
However, he noted that improving network quality requires investment in the access layer and operators must invest in this area.
It’s worth mentioning that the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Communications Infrastructure Company announced yesterday that based on network inspections, no disruptions have been observed in the entire network.
Latest Status of Fiber Optic Development
In another part of his remarks, the Minister of Communications referred to the fiber optic development project for homes and businesses and said that work has begun in 1400 small and large cities:
“We recently issued new licenses to communication operators that allow them to provide communication and fiber optic services other than telecommunications. This project is an infrastructure project and has a lot of work to do. We aim to complete the work by the end of 2025, so it requires the cooperation of the people. Work is ongoing around the clock, and operators are doing their part.
Zar’epour expressed hope that by the end of this year, access to fiber optics would be provided to 8 million households. He discussed the costs that people will incur for fiber optics:
“In both small and large cities, it is believed that people need to pay tens of millions for this technology, but they are not aware that they can benefit from it at a lower cost. Therefore, only the cost of the modem will be charged to people, and even that can be provided on a lease basis. A nominal fee will also be charged for indoor fiber installation.”
“Four domestic messaging apps are interconnected”
Interconnection, or the connection of messaging apps to each other, was another action mentioned by Zar’epour. He said, “The interconnection of messaging apps is currently established among four messaging apps, and two more messaging apps are expected to create this capability soon.”
According to him, during the days of the Hajj pilgrimage, one of the domestic messaging apps provided the option for video calls, which received around 12 million calls with a 75% satisfaction rate within approximately 50 days.
