Abbas Ashtiani, the CEO of Iran Blockchain Association, was discharged from his position

According to the Iran digital economy annotation, during the meeting minutes of 12/06/2023 of the Blockchain Association, this board of directors discharged Abbas Ashtiani from the position of CEO in an extraordinary meeting and announced Omid Alavi as the executive director of the association on a temporary basis and until the election of the definitive CEO.

This meeting was held at the request of Sepehr Mohammadi, one of the board members of the Blockchain Association, and in this meeting, Mohammadi asked Ashtiani for an explanation regarding the rumors of receiving sums of money from two exchanges to compile scientific articles in an account other than the account of the Association.

According to this letter, Ashtiani rejects the rumors and points out that this matter was outside the forum and requests the review of the documents by the inspector and the head of the Hit Directorate.

In the text of the notices approved by the board of directors, there are things such as carrying out financial activities without coordination with the board of directors in overlapping with the position of CEO, membership in a group not assigned to the Blockchain Association for planning and spending media work without the coordination of the board of directors, coordination with the members of the association in order to obtain recognition and Receiving funds to the association’s account without coordination with the board of directors and cases such as lack of transparency and timely information or endangering the structure of the association and the board’s reputation can also be seen from a credit and executive point of view.

In this way, after hearing Ashtiani’s explanation, the board of directors approved his dismissal from the position of CEO of Iran Blockchain Association, and Omid Alavi was announced to be in charge of the association’s executive affairs on a temporary basis until the final selection of the CEO.

Of course, in the report of another meeting, related to the date of 12/03/2023, there is a written notice to Ashtiani for lack of coordination and timely notification, and in other resolutions of this meeting, it is specified that the resignations of Abbas Ashtiani and Omid Alavi have been accepted. However, in the minutes of the next meeting, the resignations of these two people along with Nima Naeimikhah were withdrawn.
