Coinciding with the International Day of People with Disabilities, Snapp PR has published a report on the company’s actions to improve the quality of life of this group of society
According to the Iran digital economy annotation, since the beginning of Snapp activity, several measures have been taken in the field of people with disabilities. These actions are focused on three categories of exemption from paying the commission for drivers with disabilities, app accessibility, and allocating projects for people with disabilities in the charity department of Snappclub.
According to the World Health Organization, 16% of the world’s population, or one in six people, has a disability. Due to the importance of increasing the quality of life of people with disabilities in the country, Snapp has made supporting this group one of the most important parts of its social responsibility since the beginning of its activity.
Exemption from paying special commission for drivers with disabilities
Since the beginning of its activity, Snapp has considered an exemption plan for people with disabilities and veterans of the country. In this plan, driver users with a welfare disability card who have submitted their documents to Snapp are exempted from paying the commission.
According to the public relations report of this company, more than 18,000 disabled driver users are working in the Snapp fleet and these people have taken more than 31 million Snapp trips. The value of the exemption from commission for drivers with disabilities was equivalent to 62 billion tomans only in 2022.
Snapp application accessibility
With the aim of creating equal opportunities for all, Snapp has made its application accessible to people with disabilities. The facilities added to the Snapp application facilitate the access of passenger and driver users with disabilities and provide them with the opportunity to be more present in society. Snapp has considered special facilities in the car service department for three groups: deaf/hard of hearing, blind/impaired and people with mobility disabilities.
Snapp’s recent report states: “From the first half of 2022 to the first half of 2023, a total of 12,533 driver users and 23,525 passenger users registered their type of disability in the Snapp application.”
Snapp, accessible for deaf and hard of hearing passenger and driver users
Deaf and hearing-impaired passenger and driver users of Snapp can enter the account settings section and register their type of disability in the accessibility section. By using this feature, the driver and the passenger are informed about each other’s status.
If the passenger user has activated the “I am deaf/hard of hearing” option, the phone call will be disabled for them, and the driver will be informed via SMS that the passenger cannot answer the call and must communicate with him via text message. . Also, the driver user is given the necessary training on how to interact with a person with a disability.
The possibility of contacting deaf or hard of hearing driver users is also disabled if they have registered this item on their user profile page and the passenger will be informed via SMS that the driver is not able to answer the call and must communicate with him via SMS. made a connection Passengers who use old versions of the application will be connected to the IVR if they call a deaf driver and will be informed if the driver is deaf or hard of hearing.
Snapp Accessible for blind and visually impaired passenger users
Blind and partially sighted passenger users can benefit from this feature by downloading or updating the latest version of Android Snapp through Cafe Bazaar, Myket, Charkhoneh and Huawei AppGallery.
After receiving or updating the Snapp application, blind or partially sighted passenger users can register their travel requests using screen reader interface applications.
Screen readers are programs that convert the content of an application or site into audio content, and blind or partially sighted users benefit from the services of various applications.
In addition, the passenger user can enter the settings section and register his blindness or low vision in the accessibility section. By using this feature, the driver is informed about the status of his passenger and receives the necessary training on how to deal with and communicate.
Snapp Accessible for passenger and driver users with mobility disabilities
If the passenger user has activated the “I have a wheelchair” option on his profile page, his travel request will be displayed to the driver user with a wheelchair symbol. This feature is currently experimental and enabled for a limited number of users.
Also, after the travel request is accepted by the driver user, the passenger user’s disability badge will be displayed to him. By using this feature, the driver is informed about the status of his passenger and receives the necessary training on how to deal with and communicate.
If the driver user has activated the “I have a mobility disability” option on his user profile page, after the travel request is accepted, the license plate of the car along with the wheelchair will be displayed to the passenger on the travel card.
SnappClub charity projects for people with disabilities
In order to facilitate users’ participation in helping charities, Snapp added 1,400 charity sections to the Snapp Club customer club from April. Users can easily participate in charity projects without paying any amount and only with their SnappClub points. Snapp deposits a certain amount for the users’ points in line with the plan’s goal to the charity account in line with the plan’s goal.
In the two years that have passed since the establishment of the philanthropy club department, four of the fourteen plans of this department have been dedicated to improving the quality of life and helping the treatment process of people with disabilities.
These projects include “online training project leading to employment of people with disabilities” in cooperation with Raad charity, “plan to equip a dental center for people with disabilities” with the cooperation of Behesht Imam Reza (AS) charity, “plan to set up a 24-hour counseling center for people with autism” “In cooperation with the Iran Autism Association and “Project for the supply of rehabilitation and medical equipment for children with disabilities” in cooperation with the Children of Asman charity.
In total, Snapp users participated in these projects 401,669 times, and Snapp has paid one billion, 847,258,000 Tomans to charities.
