According to Iran digital economy annotation, the Minister of Communications confirmed the reports of destruction of optical fiber equipment by the telecommunication company and stated that despite the new competitors that the telecommunication company has, it should accept them and operate in the competitive environment created.
In an interview with reporters, Eisa Zarepour said: “Iran Telecommunication Company is no longer the only player in the field of fixed communications, and it must accept that it has created competitors and found new friends. This company should work in a competitive environment and people should have the right to choose.”
Recently, videos and pictures of the destruction of optical fiber equipment of some Internet companies by the telecommunications company have been published in cyberspace. Also, various reports from some cities show that the telecommunications company destroyed the optical fiber equipment and communication cables of some Internet companies in order to remove the competitors from the scene.
Referring to the continuation of the process of destruction of optical fiber equipment, Zarepour announced that its steps are specified in the law and there are ways to deal with it and follow up according to the law. What measures does the Ministry of Communications have in this regard? He said: “We are on the side of the people; “Whoever can provide a better service to people, naturally people will choose that service and we should not prevent people from choosing.”
He emphasized that any company that can provide better services to the people, the telecommunication company or any other service should not stop that company from serving. Regarding the competitive environment between the telecommunications company and other internet service companies, Zarepour added:
“I am sure that the managers of the telecommunications company and the members of the board of directors and the honorable CEO are not in this space at all, and they have an atmosphere of empathy and companionship, and these are minor things that can be is to fix But finally, a new atmosphere has emerged in the country that did not exist before, and it is natural that sometimes there will be resistance in some cases.”
The CEO of the telecom company denied the communications minister’s statement
The CEO of the telecommunications company reacted to the statements of the Minister of Communications regarding the destruction of optical fiber equipment by the telecommunications company on the sidelines of the Iran Media Exhibition. “Majid Soltani” told Mehr reporter in this regard: “Regarding the news that has been published, Iran’s telecommunications public relations has officially responded to this suspicion. “Until the news that is published is verified, no decision can be made.”
Pointing out that the telecommunication company is developing infrastructure, he said: “Incidentally, the infrastructure of the operators in the country in the fixed and mobile sectors is serviced by the Iran Telecommunication Company. In the fixed sector, there are a large number of companies that use our infrastructure and cables, or, for example, mobile networks benefit from the infrastructure of Iran Telecommunication Company.
Rejecting the destruction of optical fiber equipment by the telecommunications company, Soltani said: “How is it possible for the telecommunications company, which is itself a service provider, to do such an action? “My colleagues do not have permission to do such a thing, nor do they do such a thing.”
