Iran’s Minister of Communications Strengthens Ties with Oman through Bilateral Agreements
Iran’s Minister of Communications, during his visit to Muscat to advance collaborative efforts with Oman, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the second day of his trip. The MoU encompasses various fields, including infrastructure, information technology, postal services, postal banking, and special economic zones.
Cooperation Expands Across Infrastructure, Technology, Education, and Innovation
According to IDEA, Eisa Zarepour traveled to Muscat last week to promote cooperation between Iran and Oman and pursue MoUs with the country. During the first day of his visit (Thursday), he met with Oman’s Minister of Communications and Transport, Saeed ben Hamood Al Maawali. They discussed the enhancement of bilateral relations during the thirteenth government, expressing optimism for the continued development of ties between the two nations. The meeting concluded with both sides emphasizing the need to establish a specific timeline for advancing their agreements.
On the second day of the visit, Zarepour held a meeting with Rahma bent Ibrahim Al Mahrooqi, Oman’s Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation. During this meeting, the two parties discussed collaborative efforts in the areas of higher education and research. They also presented proposals for the key focus areas of their cooperation.
During his visit to Oman, Iran’s Minister of Communications highlighted the capabilities of Iran’s communication and information technology companies and expressed a readiness for joint investments in both countries. The discussions included investment in communication infrastructure development, data center establishment, and electronic services, among other areas.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology signed a collaborative agreement with Oman’s Minister of Communications and Transport, focusing on infrastructure, information technology, postal services, postal banking, and special economic zones.
The agreement encompasses a wide range of initiatives, including expedited postal deliveries, investments in data centers, electronic service provisions, enhancement of communication infrastructure, and efforts to improve its quality. According to the Iranian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, this document extends the extensive cooperation initiated by a memorandum of understanding signed between the two nations in Tehran last month.
