In the year 1402(2023), the Central Bank provided over 77 trillion Tomans in facilities to 1784 knowledge-based companies; however, there is no mention of the applicants.
According to IDEA, The Central Bank reported that the number of facilities provided to knowledge-based companies in the month of Mordad (August) exceeded 18 trillion Tomans. This institution, without direct reference, announced that some parliament representatives presented incorrect statistics regarding the provision of facilities to knowledge-based firms. But what is the story?
Mohsen Dehnavi, the head of the Knowledge-Based Economy Fraction in the parliament, announced on Tuesday at the ‘Monitoring the Leap of Knowledge-Based Production’ event that the highest level of inaction in implementing the ‘Knowledge-Based Production Leap’ law has been on the part of the Central Bank and other banks. He claimed that cooperation from banks to support knowledge-based production has not taken place.
Now, the Central Bank has indirectly responded to these statements by publishing its monthly report on the number of facilities provided to knowledge-based companies.
Citing the Central Bank’s public relations department, during the first five months of 1402 (2023), more than 77 trillion Tomans in facilities were provided to knowledge-based companies. These facilities were allocated to 1784 knowledge-based companies in the form of 8108 items.
An examination of the status of facilities granted to knowledge-based companies at the end of Mordad 1402 shows that these facilities had increased by 261.4% compared to the first five months of 1401.
In its report, the Central Bank, without mentioning a specific person, stated: ‘It should be noted that some members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (parliament) had released incorrect statistics in this regard yesterday.’
It appears that the Central Bank is referring to the statements made by a member of the parliament’s presiding board. However, despite the increase in the number of facilities provided to knowledge-based companies, it seems that transparency mechanisms in this regard are still lacking. The non-disclosure of the names of companies receiving loans is noteworthy.
Number of facilities provided in August 2023
According to the Central Bank’s report, in Mordad of the current year, 1723 facilities were granted to 708 knowledge-based companies.
This figure of facilities was equivalent to 18 trillion Tomans, which has seen a 75.2% increase compared to Mordad 1401(August 2023).
