A hacker group claimed to have hacked the internal databases of the Islamic Council and the parliament news agency. Ilna News Agency has confirmed the hacking of the parliament and this site has been unavailable since around 9:00 AM on Tuesday, 13th of February
According to Iran digital economy annotation, domestic and foreign websites and news agencies have reported an attack on the Parliament’s cyber infrastructure, citing a hacker group. This group has claimed to have hacked “the main servers of the parliament, the servers of the commissions of the parliament, the main servers of the parliament floor, the parliament Yar server, the parliament Bank server and some other servers related to the secretariat, deputies and representatives’ offices”.
As of this writing, none of the government officials or parliament has commented on this matter.
This hacker group, which identifies itself as affiliated to the People’s Mojahedin Organization, claimed to have hacked the presidential system in June this year.
This group has published documents such as “internal letters, meeting minutes and salary list of parliament members” on its Telegram channel.
Public relations announcement of the parliament
The public relations of the Islamic Council gave a notice about the websites of this institution being unavailable. This announcement states: The website of the Islamic Council and the parliament news agency has been hacked and unavailable since this morning due to cyber attacks. The dimensions of this issue are being investigated by expert technical teams and the necessary notifications will be made soon.
A preliminary examination of these images shows that some of these documents are manipulated and unverifiable. In this way, the hackers probably manipulated the real documents through limited access to some documents. For example, in the file that was published as the rights of the representatives in June 2023, there is a column called the final sum containing unrealistic numbers that do not exist in the payment documents of the parliament.
