Today evening, the 17th of May 2024, Digikala opened its first in-person store or “experience-oriented store”.
According to Iran digital economy annotation, at the presentation ceremony of this store, which is located in “Royal Commercial Complex” located in Saadat Abad, Tehran, Digikala managers announced that they want to combine online and offline shopping experience. In this store, only electronic products are offered in three categories: mobile phones, laptops, game consoles, audio devices and some accessories.
In the first Digikala experience-oriented store, which is about 400 meters wide, apart from the long stands that hold all kinds of brands and models of mobile phones and laptops, there are also three special rooms where customers can experience the products they want up close. Digikala calls these experience spaces “dedicated zones” and they are dedicated to the comparison of mobile phones, different models of headsets and headphones, and the experience of game consoles.
Masoud Tabatabei, the CEO of Digikala, announced at the opening ceremony of the first face-to-face store of Iran’s largest online retailer that this store was launched based on a needs assessment of users. He stated: “In 1401, we conducted social studies on why Iranian people still have a small share in online shopping. One of the important reasons we found in this opinion survey was that users like to touch and experience the product while shopping, which actually helps the users’ shopping experience.”
Saeed Mohammadi, the co-founder of DigiKala, announced at the opening ceremony of this experience-oriented store that the advantages of physical shopping, including touching the product and seeing it up close, made them think about starting this face-to-face store almost three years ago. According to him, adding offline shopping to Digikala services may be a trial and error, but they are sure to create the best user experience for shopping for their users. He added: “In the surveys we conducted with e-commerce companies in the world, we found out that in online stores, the operation of physical spaces can increase the probability of buying with the possibility of checking, buying and choosing.”
Hamid Mohammadi, co-founder of Digikala also said: “We don’t want to be a mere retailer, and that’s why we didn’t enter this space, but to complete the customer experience before and after the purchase.”
