The spokesperson of the National Center for Cyberspace announced the extension of the deadline for the implementation of the guidelines for protecting the privacy of users.
According to Iran digital economy annotation, Referring to the latest implementation process of user privacy protection guidelines, Hossein Dalirian said: The Secretary of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace issued this directive on the 27th of Dey 1402 in order to reduce the risks of users’ privacy violations and protect them against cyber threats and in the latest follow-ups carried out last year by the Supreme Commission for the Regulation of Cyber Space, the platforms and systems are implementing it.
He added: Until the new year, parts of the directive that could be implemented faster were implemented by private sector businesses and government systems, and the rest of the directive’s provisions were also on the way to implementation.
The spokesperson of the National Center for Virtual Space noted: Of course, after the notification of this directive, several meetings were held to follow up its implementation in the platforms and systems, and in the process of this monitoring and follow-up, the systems and businesses of the private sector asked the National Center for Virtual Space to have the opportunity to implement this Due to its technical and executive aspects, the directive should be increased from a maximum of 2 months after notification to a maximum of 4 months after notification, so that they can take the necessary action regarding the technical and programming aspects of the implementation of the directive at the right time.
Dalirian continued: On this basis, this request was approved by the High Commission for Regulatory Regulation so that the process of implementing the guidelines and protecting people’s data in platforms and systems will be done more carefully.
He pointed out: According to this executive directive, non-governmental legal entities and executive bodies of the country have been required to comply with new rules in the field of processing and maintaining data related to users in cyberspace systems and platforms.
The spokesperson of the National Center for Virtual Space continued: Obtaining users’ data only to the extent necessary and in accordance with explicit and specific goals, clarifying the reason for obtaining personal data from people, deleting all or part of people’s data upon their request, encrypting people’s data, etc. It is among the provisions of this executive order.
Dalirian said: According to this notice, the continuation of providing services or the renewal of the activity licenses of the systems and platforms subject to the mentioned instruction by the regulatory authorities and licensing authorities, is subject to ensuring compliance with these regulations, which through the regulatory mechanism developed by the National Center for Cyberspace, will be measured and evaluated.
