On the sidelines of the National Conference on Technology, Advertising and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Amir Hossein Asadi, Secretary of the Advertising Commission, spoke about advertising in Iran
According to the Iran digital economy annotation, the Secretary of the Advertising Commission, regarding the size of the global advertising market in 2024, noted that this market is one thousand billion dollars. In response to the question about Iran’s share of this market, he said: “This is a very large number that can help the country’s economy.
Unfortunately, there is a flaw and that is the lack of statistics in this regard. Of course, we should have a share in this market, since Iran has 1% of the world’s population, it is logical that 1% should also have a share in this market.”
Asadi explained about the growth trend of Iran’s advertising market and the use of new tools and technology in this industry: “The digital advertising market and industry has grown in the world and this growth has also happened in Iran.
The share of broadcast and outdoor advertising may have shrunk and paper newspapers are almost obsolete, but the market for digital advertising has grown, even on platforms that are not ours. Although there is talk of the development of platforms such as Bale, Soroush, Eitaa, etc., but advertisements have entered Instagram, Twitter, etc.”
He added: “Today, advertising has adopted a new model, but the weakness in the country is that we do not have the tools to create advertisements such as 3D in the country. This also creates a disturbance in the path of growth, and the advertising industry is far from new tools.
Asadi also explained in response to the question that advertising is influenced by culture, so how can one export and enter international markets: “Advertising is included in the division of creative industries, and the transaction number of creative industries is 2500 billion dollars. For this reason, the country can access the content more easily.
Because our cultural and historical record is better known in the world. In the Ministry of Security, we had a discussion about whether characteristics such as pistachios or Iranian carpets can be understood in the world. The world respects Iranian culture and we could not use new tools and platforms in this industry.”
Regarding the development of this field, he said: “There is a need for several ministries to quickly join hands and one of them will be responsible, and a working group committee will be formed, and we will move towards exports and use the capacities of this field.” This is easy due to the presence of young forces, but it is considered difficult due to the lack of common literature with these young people.
