At this year’s Elecomp exhibition, Rubika unveiled two services for online food ordering and online ticket purchase. Based on this, Rubika is now the second super application that has provided its users with the possibility of ordering food online.
According to Iran digital economy annotation, this event can bring about significant developments in the online food ordering market in Iran.
According to the latest available statistics, the number of monthly users of Rubika has been announced by more than 40 million people; A significant potential to capture a significant share of the online food ordering market.
Of course, Rubika is not alone in this direction. Snappfood has been operating for many years as an unrivaled and number one player in this market, and based on the network effect theory, it has added various services to its platform, such as online ordering of fruit, sweets, protein products, and other items, which will delight the user. It makes it very difficult. Also, restaurants and kitchens, with the wide network of users and influence, as well as Snappfood’s logistics system, apparently prefer it to a new competitor.
During the past months, “Ofood” from Golrang and “Fidilio” are also trying to get a share of the online food ordering market. In the meantime, we cannot forget that Snappfood (former Zoodfood) was able to remove competitors with huge investments, namely Reyhoon and Chilivery, from the competition. There were also news about Digikala’s attempt to enter online food ordering, which apparently failed. According to unofficial reports, Tapsi is supposed to become a super-application in which Ofood operates as a food ordering service.
However, over the past years, Rubika has formed a large user base and has been able to expand its influence among users with mostly content services.
It remains to be seen whether in the near future this super application, which is supported by the investment of telecommunication operators, will be able to make its mark among users for ordering food online. Do restaurants even show a good face to it?
We have to wait and see how Rubika can find its place in this competitive market and respond to the needs of users.
