The Publishing Industry in the Age of AI series of meetings will be held in the Publishing Technologies Hall at the 36th Tehran International Book Fair.
According to Ideaagency, in a session held in the Publishing Technologies Hall with the presence of Babak Nadrkhani, CEO of Mikhanam, and Majid Teymouri, Development Manager of Mikhanam, the speakers discussed the relationship between technology and books.
In a conversation with Sadegh Attarzadeh, Babak Nadrkhani pointed out that in Iran, almost all work is the responsibility of publishers, and said: “The versatility of publishers is strong in some places, but in other places they do what they can. Most publishers have become booksellers in addition to publishing books because we do not have a good financial structure and individuals cannot do it themselves. Recently, changes have been introduced, such as the use of Sayyadi check.”
“The publisher has neither the duty nor the obligation to do a certain number of things,” said Mikhanam’s CEO. “We don’t have good broadcasting companies. If we use technology in broadcasting, we can better utilize the potential of groups and specialists.”
Nadrkhani added: “Foreign publishers in some areas have realized that they should not be responsible for everything, such as producing e-books. This group is slowly coming to the conclusion that they should implement each section separately. Like Fidibo, Taaghche, and Mikhanam, which have entered this field.”
Majid Teymouri, Development Manager at Mikhanam, explained the need for unified software in bookstores: “Although the use of technology has become widespread, there is a situation where there is no consistent software across all bookstores to solve their common challenges. At Mikhanam, I hope to revolutionize book sales and serve people who are looking for a variety of books for research and other purposes. Our most important work is to develop a bookstore using a stand.”
