According to the IDEA, Dejino, a click fraud detection platform, has announced in a report: It is estimated that last year, Iranian businesses lost an amount of about 500 billion tomans due to advertising fraud.
The data of this report have been analyzed in the period from September 1401 to September 1402, and Dejino said about this: These data are the results of the analysis of sessions (Sessions) due to the clicks made on various types of online advertisements such as advertising banners, video advertisements, advertisements Social networks etc. are created on the advertisers’ website
In the businesses studied in this report, the data related to the difference between 20 and 40% session-to-click rate is not included.
What is a session?
According to Dejino’s definition, the loading of a website and the user’s activity in a certain period of time is called a session, and a fake session is a session created by an invalid click on an online advertisement on the advertiser’s website.
In the continuation of this report, it is also pointed out that in this report, the state of online advertising fraud is related to click fraud and other types of advertising fraud are not included in this estimate..
In the first chapter of this report, it is stated that more than 30,000 traffic input channels have been analyzed by Dejino algorithms, and 16 different industries have used the company’s fraud detection services, of which travel and tourism, immigration, and cryptocurrency are part of these 16 industries.
The sources reviewed in this report were Digikala, Tapsel, Mediaad, Sanjaq, Yektanet. More than 15 different mediums have been evaluated in the reviewed channels, and advertising banners, push notifications, and social media were also part of these mediums.
Technology and electronics industry
In the rest of the report, the geographical distribution of the sessions is also mentioned and it is stated that Tehran, Isfahan and Razavi Khorasan are among the three provinces that have checked the most sessions and 89% of the checked sessions have used mobile phones. The most fraudulent session happened on Wednesdays and the least fraudulent session on Fridays every week.
Categories of mother, baby and baby, food and cooking, book and literature have created the highest amount of fraudulent sessions on the advertiser’s website on average, and the technology and electronic goods industry has seen the biggest loss from fraud in online advertising with 31% of fake sessions.
Also, in this report, 90% of business ads on Google are somehow involved in one of the types of advertising fraud.
