The use of electronic receipts for online shopping will soon be available for the top five deciles of income earners. Eleven essential items are part of this program.
According to IDEA, the top five deciles of income earners will be eligible for incentive points if they use the electronic receipt program instead of cash subsidies. These points will be awarded to them if they purchase at least 50% of their subsidies from among the 11 essential items defined and from among the 90,000 stores connected to the program. Online stores connected to the ‘Shoma’ system are also expected to be added to this list soon.
The ‘Shoma’ system provides a platform for managing and allocating support credits based on the government’s major welfare policies using the national ID.
In early Shahrivar (late August), Seyed Solat Mortazavi, the Minister of Welfare, announced that the incentive subsidy previously paid to the top three deciles had been extended to the top five deciles in the form of electronic receipts. If the top five deciles purchase and consume 50% of their subsidy (11 essential items) through electronic receipts, they will be eligible to receive a 120,000 Tomans incentive subsidy.
It should be noted that participation in this program is optional, and anyone can choose to receive the 400,000 Tomans in cash and make other purchases. However, if they use 200,000 Tomans to buy food items, they will receive two additional points. The first point covers the inflation gap, and the second point entails receiving an additional 120,000 Tomans.
The purchase of these 11 essential items through the electronic receipt program includes Iranian rice, legumes, low-fat milk, UF cheese, low-fat yogurt, chicken, eggs, liquid oil, pasta, sugar, and sugar. Families can make their purchases by visiting one of the 90,000 connected stores using the subsidy amount.
