According to the IDEA, Eisa Zarepour – the Minister of Communications and Information Technology – in a meeting with the officials of Basij students of the country’s universities, discussed the design process and progress of the national information network in the past years and emphasized that this network has progressed by about 64%: The National Information Network is a high-speed, high-quality and secure network in Iran that meets people’s needs in various fields. At the beginning of this government, its progress was 23%, which has reached 64% in less than 2 years.
The Minister of Communications also pointed out the problems and deficiencies of the communication infrastructure and said: “The basic solution for this problem is fiber optics for homes and businesses. By preparing the infrastructure, the project has been implemented since last year and has been completed in 100 cities so far. Speeds up to 900 Mbps are also offered to people.
He added: We plan to cover all cities in the country by this network by the end of 2025, and according to the seventh development plan, all buildings in the country should be connected to fiber optics by 2028.
Zarepour also mentioned the development of rural communications in 5,500 villages in the 13th government and said: We need these communications to provide various services based on information technology to all the people of the country.
He called the two- to three-fold increase in domestic traffic production as another achievement of this period and added: In this government, the record of domestic traffic production was broken with the exchange of 6.5 terabits per second of domestic traffic.
Explaining the different models of virtual space management in other countries, the Minister of Communications emphasized: If we want to not be a digital colony of other countries, we must have our own platforms, because in the near future these platforms will manage the countries.
According to the announcement of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Zarepour explained in a report about the latest state of the realization of the smart government and also said about the window of the service unit of the smart government:
Our goal is that people through an icon on their phones around the clock and They can use government services without providing any documents, and according to the 7th development plan, all public and government institutions are obliged to provide 100% of their services to the people in an intelligent manner until the end of this program.
