According to the Minister of Communications of Iran, public engagement and statistics on the services provided through the National Smart Government Services Portal reflect a transformative approach to addressing citizens’ needs. This portal has become the primary point of interaction for the public, streamlining various aspects of their affairs.
A Look at the Latest Progress in the Implementation of the National Smart Government Services Portal
As reported by IDEA, e-government encompasses the mechanization of internal processes within organizations, administrative automation, the development of informative websites, data center establishment, and costly hardware procurement, all with sound economic justification. However, its true essence lies in the responsiveness of governmental entities, involving connectivity and interaction. Consequently, the thirteenth government has taken substantial steps towards offering intelligent government services, making it a legal obligation for all government bodies.
The burden of managing a multitude of essential documents such as birth certificates, national ID cards, articles of incorporation, and administrative power of attorney papers has always been one of the core challenges in administrative processes. For this reason, in recent years, establishing a unified portal in various fields has been a priority for government officials.
Today, the National Smart Government Services Portal, offering hundreds of services, has made people less dependent on paper-based transactions. Domestic platforms play an increasingly prominent role in the nation’s digital economy daily.
In this context, Eisa Zarepour, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, recently presented a report on the latest status of the implementation of the law that binds governmental entities to connect to the National Smart Government Services Portal during the twenty-sixth executive council meeting on information technology, attended by the President.
Zarepour highlighted the latest developments in the execution of the law for governmental entities to connect to the National Smart Government Services Portal, revealing that 96% of these entities have joined the portal. The platform has authenticated the identities of 26 million citizens over 18 years old, witnessed 519 million visits, and supported an impressive 10 billion transactions. Moreover, it has facilitated the issuance of governmental, occupational, and household permits within this electronic framework.
Fortunately, the portal’s significant increase in public engagement and the statistics on services rendered underscore that this gateway has transformed into a one-stop destination for public recourse and problem-solving in their daily affairs.
