According to the Iran digital economy annotation, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel arrived in Tehran on Sunday, December 3, 2023at the head of a high-ranking political and economic delegation. This is the first visit of the president of this country to Iran after the visit of the late Cuban President Fidel Castro in June 2001.
Monday morning (December 4, 2023) after the official welcome ceremony and the introduction of accompanying delegations, a private meeting of the heads of the two countries, a joint meeting of high-ranking delegations and the signing ceremony of documents and memorandums of cooperation will be held in Saad Abad complex in Tehran. After that, the two presidents will explain the results and achievements of in between consultations in a joint press conference.
At the signing ceremony of cooperation documents between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Cuba, Seyed Ebrahim Raeisi and Miguel Diaz-Canel signed a joint statement on deepening strategic and bilateral relations.
Also, the high-ranking officials of Iran and Cuba signed 7 cooperation documents and memorandums in the presence of the presidents. It has been said that the memorandums of understanding and cooperation documents between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Cuba in various sectors of science and technology, health, agriculture, energy and mining, communications and medicine were signed by the authorities of the two countries.
In this regard, Mohammad Khansari, the head of the Information Technology Organization of Iran, published a post on an internal social network and stated: After concluding a memorandum of understanding on cooperation with the Ministry of Communications of Cuba in June this year, we reached an understanding with the Cuban side on the implementation plan.
He added: Exchange of experiences in areas such as electronic government, regulation, cyber space security and digital transformation and smart government were some of the issues discussed.
The head of the Information Technology Organization explained: commercialization of the products of the parties in the field of infrastructure, telecommunication and fiber optic equipment, holding joint events and participating in the specialized exhibitions of the parties, cooperation in international forums and cooperation in the field of postal services were among the other topics discussed.
Khansari said: The details of the joint cooperation program will be determined gradually in the joint ICT working group.
