Native platforms such as Aparat also have an 18% share. This report also mentioned the growth of the average age of mobile gamers.
According to the IDEA, the Digital Games Research Center (DIRC) and the National Foundation of Computer Games in their latest report on the national survey of the consumption of mobile games in Iran have achieved interesting statistics of mobile gaming in the country.
This report states that there are nearly 33 million mobile gamers in Iran and 96% of the country’s gamers have declared that they use mobile as their gaming platform. 22% of this population also use YouTube to watch streamers play, and native platforms such as Aparat have a share of 18%.
This center has identified three categories of players, which include determined players, interested players, and professional players. Meanwhile, only 11.5% of professional gamers are mobile gamers.
In fact, players interested in the world of video games have the largest share among the statistical population of mobile gaming in Iran. Young people make up the most mobile gamers in the country, and middle-aged people are the least in this society. Minors also have a small share, and this is probably because this age group does not have access to consoles and personal computers.
The average age of mobile players has increased
A survey of the average age of mobile players in recent years shows an increase in this index among Iranian players, to the extent that this number has increased from 21 years old in 2014 to 25 years old in the results of the last survey of 2021.
In addition, the increase of this number can indicate the acceptance of games as a hobby among older age groups. This center has done more research on the age of mobile gamers in the country and concluded that urban players are older than rural players. Rural youths who come to mobile gaming have an average age of 23 years, and it can be assumed that this industry has become a new cultural consumption product among the villages.
The study of the distribution of mobile players based on the place of residence also shows that the players who live in the center have the highest frequency. However, it should be noted that one of the reasons for this is the frequency of the people who live in the center compared to other groups. Mobile gaming also has the highest penetration rate (more than 99%) among rural areas. The lowest rate of penetration was related to the densely populated areas. It is necessary to mention that the meaning of the penetration rate in this report is the spread of the use of platforms among players.
Yazd, Markazi and Tehran have the lowest number of gamers in the country
According to this report, Bushehr, Lorestan, Qazvin and South Khorasan provinces have the most mobile gamers in the country, and Yazd, Central and Tehran provinces have the least number of mobile gamers in Iran.
The ratio of female mobile players is also higher than male, although it should be noted that according to various statistics of the country, in general, male gamers are more than female gamers.
Mobile players play at least 1 hour per week, in addition, it should be noted that these players play an average of 71 minutes per day only on the mobile platform. The status of game tools among mobile players shows that 8.95% of players use smartphones and 6.13% use tablets.
Also, the state of game platforms shows that 67% of mobile players play with only one platform. This report adds that among mobile players, more than 56 percent of them experience games online.
YouTube is the most popular streaming platform in Iran
This report has also published interesting information about the state of video game streaming. 52% of mobile gamers like to watch the game streaming by others and 17% of this community do it through internal platforms such as cameras. 22% of this population watch streams through YouTube and 41% watch others play in person. Twitch’s filtered platform also has a share of almost 3%.
10% of Iranian gamers buy games and if we measure this share for all Iranian gamers, we reach 23%. Puzzle-intellectual games are the most popular among Iranian mobile gamers, followed by battle royale, fantasy (scoring), strategy, and sports genres. Call of Duty is the most popular game among Iranian gamers, followed by Clash of Clans, Football, Amirza, and PUBG Mobile among Iranian players.
The mobile gaming market is a rapidly growing industry that is expected to continue growing in the coming years. With the increase in the number of smartphone users, the emergence of new technologies such as cloud gaming and augmented reality, mobile games have become a popular form of entertainment around the world. In general, it can be said that the future of mobile games looks bright and growing.
