IranCell has received the Unified Network and Services Provider (UNSP) license agreement from the Minister of Communications and Information Technology.
According to IDEA, today, during a ceremony at the Kollah Farangi Building of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, attended by Eisa Zar’epour, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amir Mohammadzadeh Lajevardi, Deputy Minister for Communications, the Head of the Regulatory Authority, and Radio Communications (Regulatory), along with some of the managers of this organization, Sadeq Abbasi Shahkouh, the advisor to the Minister and the executor of the Fiber Optic Development project for homes and businesses, Bijan Abbasi Arand, the CEO of IranCell, and the CEOs of companies such as AsiaTech, Pishgaman, Shatel, Sabanet, Fanap, and Hiweb (operators participating in the National Fiber Optic for homes and businesses project), the Unified Network and Services Provider (UNSP) license agreement was awarded to IranCell and the mentioned companies.
This license has been granted to IranCell based on the decisions of the Council of Ministers and resolution number one of session 336 of the Communications Regulatory Commission dated 9th of Mordad, 1401, which approved the principles governing the issuance of the Unified Network and Services Provider license.
With the receipt of this license, IranCell, which has been offering various communication and digital services, including 2G, 3G, 4G/LTE-A, and 5G mobile networks, as well as high-speed fixed wireless internet services (WiMAX and TD-LTE), officially joins the providers of fixed communication services based on fiber optics (FTTx) and other services as specified in the above resolution.
This license encompasses the provision of all communication services by IranCell and remains valid until the end of the year 1410 AH (Solar Hijri calendar).
In this ceremony, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, mentioning the implementation of the Fiber Optic project for homes and businesses as one of the government’s most significant plans in the field of information and communication technology, stated: “With this Unified license, an operator can offer all services of this industry to its subscribers, and there is no longer a need to obtain a separate license for each service.”
Bijan Abbasi Arand, the CEO of IranCell, also emphasized IranCell’s readiness to accelerate the Fiber Optic project, subject to the removal of certain obstacles, and called for increased coordination between various entities to overcome the challenges in implementing this project.
Prior to this, IranCell’s new high-speed fixed internet service based on fiber optics was inaugurated on the 27th of Ordibehesht, 1402, during a ceremony attended by the President. This service, known as “Fiber to the Home (FTTH),” was launched under the “National Fiber Optic for homes and businesses” initiative. Babol in Mazandaran province became the first city to receive IranCell’s Fiber Optic service.
