Also, in the ranking of points, Mohammad Ghasemi Nasab won the fifth place in the field of “Web Technologies”. The Asian WorldSkills competition was held for the first time in 2018 in Abu Dhabi, and like the World Skills competition, it is held every two years, but due to the interruption of Corona, the second round was held this year. Of course, in 2019, Iran became a member of the WorldSkills Asian Games organization, and this tournament was the first appearance of the Iranian team in the WorldSkills Asian Games.
Technical superiority of Iranian experts
Mr. Gholamreza Raz, as the technical representative of Iran in the World Skill Organization, was present in this competition and we had a conversation about this event. In the Asian competitions of this period, experts such as Hamed Karegarzadeh, Mohammad Hossein Kochaki Moghadam, Prooskeh Mahdavi, Mehdi Keshtiara and Mehdi Fahimi accompanied the team.
According to Mr. Raz, Iran’s strong point in this period was the high quality of experts sent: “Arvani experts were in a higher position than their Asian counterparts in terms of experience and background and were considered to be the leaders of the team of experts in the competitions.”
According to him, it is necessary that the world skill competition is sponsor-oriented; Because it is necessary to take advantage of the capacities of the private sector and related industries in order to meet the standards of the world. Although the capacities of the private sector have been used to some extent in Iran, it should be more and more prominent.
Past experiences and looking to the future
In the previous round of the World Skills Competition, which was held in South Korea in 2022, Arvan was also the organizer of the competition. The Iranian team managed to win a bronze medal and four medallions in the field of information technology.
According to Mr. Raz, plans have also been made for the next round of the 2024 World Championships, which will be held in France, and the chosen nationals of the previous year and this year are going to hold a training camp by discipline. This preparatory camp, which is held in person and in person, is to select the best players and send them to the Lyon France 2024 World Championships.
History of the World Championship of Skills
WorldSkills is the largest professional training event held every two years in different countries. Competitors from more than 60 countries of the world participate in the competitions and are tested in various fields with international standards. These competitions are currently held in 45 main disciplines and 4 demonstration disciplines. Of course, it should be mentioned that this year’s competition in Abu Dhabi was the only “Asian competition” and the next round of the world competition will be in 2024.
WorldSkills competitions have a long history. After World War II, it started in 1950 with the aim of identifying skilled workers; Because expert manpower was not easily found. To solve this problem, it was proposed to hold an event called the World Skills Competition, which turned out to be very effective and efficient. The problem of lack of manpower gradually decreased and caused the continuation of this event until finally the World Organization of Skills was formed.
