The trilateral data transit agreement between Iranian and Oman operators was signed in the presence of the Minister of Communication and Information Technology. The Memorandum of Understanding was held at the International Corridor Event 2025.

The purpose of signing a memorandum is to strengthen data transit corridors on the northern and southern routes, which is an important step in turning Iran into a regional data transfer pole.
According to this cooperation agreement, transit capacity towards Oman has increased to 4.3 Tb from northern borders to Europe and Iran’s internal borders, and a safe and high -speed network from Iran’s northern borders (towards Europe) to the southern routes (to the southern routes. The side of Oman and the Persian Gulf will be created.
By optimizing existing infrastructure, the project reduces the time and cost of data transfer between Asia, the Middle East and Europe and offers an efficient alternative to longer marine routes.
Working with Omantel as one of the leading operators in the Persian Gulf enhances Iran’s access to international networks through the South Corridor and enables more sustainable connection to global data centers. On the other hand, the use of Iran’s northern routes increases the security and variety of data transfer routes to Europe.
In addition to consolidating Iran’s position in the world’s digital transit map, this memorandum is an opportunity to attract investment in the field of information technology and create employment in the country’s communication infrastructure.
