The deputy minister of communications announces the removal of obstacles to establishing data center hubs with private sector collaboration in Fooladshahr, Mashhad, Pardis Special Economic Zone, and Shiraz.
According to IDEA, Ali Asghar Ansari, Deputy Minister of Communications, announced the holding of the first conference on investment opportunities in data center hubs in the coming days. He stated that the first coordination meeting for organizing this conference, attended by representatives from the private sector and executive agencies, was held to identify opportunities, capacities, and incentives for private sector investment.
According to the Public Relations Center of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the first coordination meeting for organizing the conference on investment opportunities in the National Information Network and the digital economy in the data center hub was chaired by Ali Asghar Ansari, Deputy Minister of Planning and Strategic Supervision of the Ministry of Communications.
The Ministry of Communications is seeking investment in data center hubs
Ansari, the Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology, considered the establishment and operation of data center hubs as one of the major projects aimed at achieving the goals of the National Information Network. He mentioned that, according to studies conducted at the Ministry of Communications, cities such as Isfahan, Mashhad, and Pardis Special Economic Zone in Alborz Province, followed by Shiraz, have been identified for the establishment of data center hubs. This decision has also been confirmed by the Council for the Development of the National Information Network, and these hubs are planned to be established with the participation of the private sector.
Ansari added that to facilitate private sector participation in the establishment of these data center hubs, certain regions under the Ministry of Communications’ jurisdiction, such as Fouladshahr, Mashhad, and the Pardis Special Economic Zone, were designated, and some obstacles, including power supply, were addressed.
The Deputy Minister of Communications further stated that they are taking advantage of the benefits of the Fava Park in designated regions to build data center hubs. He announced that the first conference on private sector investment opportunities in data center hubs will be held in Isfahan in the coming days. It was necessary to hold a meeting with those who can assist in identifying opportunities, capacities, and investment incentives on the day of the conference.
Ansari expressed his satisfaction with the organization of this meeting and mentioned that friends helped to finalize the content of the conference within the framework of existing laws and capacities, so the necessary documents and announcements for investment in the current year would be prepared and published.
According to this report, in the first coordination meeting for organizing the conference on investment opportunities in the National Information Network and the digital economy in the data center hub, held in the Deputy Minister of Planning and Strategic Supervision’s office at the Ministry of Communications, representatives from various organizations attended, including the Iran Information Technology Guild Organization, Isfahan Chamber of Commerce’s Information Technology Commission, Strategic Technologies Development Center, the Office of Scientific Deputy of the President, the Investment Organization of the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Energy, and various entities within the Ministry of Communications, such as the Communications Infrastructure Company, the Development and Investment Deputy, Fava Park, the Information Technology Organization, and the Information and Communication Technology Office of Isfahan Province.
Topics discussed in this meeting included issues related to power supply, land use, telecommunications, facilities, and permits for establishing data center hubs in Fouladshahr, Mashhad, and the Pardis Special Economic Zone.
