Member of Parliament announced the holding of a meeting with the operators and the Ministry of Communications, in which the Internet tariff increase will be discussed
According to Iran digital economy annotation, A member of the Parliament’s Industries Commission believes that the increase in the price of the Internet should be gradual, gradual and with a gentle slope so that the society is not harmed. He also informed about holding a meeting with the operators and the Ministry of Communications about the tariff increase.
“Mostafa Taheri”, a member of the Parliament’s Industries and Mines Commission, stated that the price increase of services such as the Internet should be gradual: “It should not be excessive in the sense that the price increase will not be prevented for several years, nor will the price increase be It will take place once.”
He believes that the price increase should be a step, if this issue is done annually, gradually and with a gentle slope, the society will not be harmed.
Referring to the increase in Internet tariffs, Taheri stated that the Industries Commission will hold a meeting with the Ministry of Communications and Operators as soon as possible:
“Representatives of the Ministry of Communications and operators should provide explanations about the amount of foreign exchange purchases, the speed of the Internet, the amount of investment required, the increase in prices made in the past years and the formula that led to a 34 percent increase in the price of the Internet.”
Regarding some comments that the government should support this area, he said: “If the government is determined to support the Internet, the parliament welcomes it, but it should not be done from the pocket of the private sector.”
This member of parliament explained more about this and said that if the government provides the necessary investment for the internet sector to prevent the wear and tear of equipment and people can receive services in this sector cheaply, it would be a very good thing: “But according to our information, the government He does not have the necessary resources for this issue, and if he makes a promise, it will not be carried out.”
