50% increase in the country’s transmission network capacity

Since the beginning of the 13th government, 40% has been added to the country’s traffic transit capacity, and as the Minister of Communications and Technology says, the country’s data transit capacity is supposed to reach 4 terabits by the end of the government.

Based on the investigations, the level of network traffic has increased in an acceptable manner and the level of saturation in it has reached its minimum level compared to the past and the progress in this field continues.

According to officials, the capacity of the transmission network at the beginning of the 13th government was 35.8 terabits per second, and all its equipment was foreign. But in the 13th government, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology planned to double the country’s transmission capacity by the end of 2023, that is, within 36 months.

Therefore, for the first time, a contract worth 7,000 billion Rials, which is considered the largest localization contract between the Infrastructure Communications Company and the Ministry of Communications, has been concluded, and it is planned to add 20 terabits per second to the country’s transmission network capacity using local equipment.

On the other hand, not long ago, the Director General of Communications and Information Technology of Qom announced that currently the total capacity of incoming bandwidth in Qom province is 960 gigabytes per second, which shows that it has grown by more than 166% in the last two years since August 2021.

In this regard, recently the Minister of Communications and Information Technology announced at the national conference of the fifth generation of the Internet that in addition to the development of optical fiber in the cities, they are strengthening the main telecommunication network.

This has increased the capacity of the country’s transmission network by 50% since the beginning of the government, and by the end of the year Another 50% will be added to it, and the goal set in this regard is to triple compared to the beginning of the government.

A topic that he mentioned in late August and said that in the last two years, they have made extensive efforts to modernize the communication infrastructure at different levels. According to the Minister of Communications, many measures have been taken in the four layers of access.

The integration of provincial and urban networks, the main telecommunication network and the gateways of the Internet to the country, and in the country’s Internet input layer, in the last two years, they tried to diversify the input sources and the amount of Internet input supply more than twice the country’s needs.

He also emphasized: Now we have more than twice the capacity of the country’s resources. In the mother core layer, since the beginning of the government, 50% has been added to the country’s internet mother network capacity by relying on 100% Iranian equipment, and this capacity will double by the end of the year and triple by the end of the government.
