Divar data shows that people from Bushehr and Qeshm have published the most console and game ads compared to their population
After three years have passed since the release of PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 still has fans in Iran and is being bought and sold. According to Divar statistics, this console is the number one device for gamers on this platform. This means that in the first half of this year, Divar users have searched for the “PlayStation 4” console more than any other type of console. Among the games, “Freefire” is the most popular game for Divar users and has been the most searched.
According to the IDEA, and quoted by Divar’s public relations, in Iran, we have 34 million “gamers” whose average age is 23 years old, they play for an average of 95 minutes a day, and 4 million of them are “professionals”. Professionals typically play more than 21 hours a week. This is according to the official report of the National Computer Games Foundation, which was published late last year.
These figures show well how big and geographically the computer games market in Iran is. The statistics of online shopping platforms show that many of these game lovers visit these platforms to get the console or game they need. Sometimes they go to these platforms just to know about the latest products in the market.
Having said that, which consoles are the most popular among Iranian gamers? What games do Iranians like the most? Which cities have more computer games? In the following, we will answer the mentioned questions by referring to the statistics of the Divar.
“Southern” warm-blooded gamers
Online buying and selling of consoles and games in Iran knows no geographical limits, and in almost all active cities on Divar, in the first half of this year, sales ads were published in this subcategory, and each ad was viewed an average of 315 times.
Compared to their population, Bushehri people have published the highest number of console and game ads in all the cities of the country. After that, the most advertisements have been published in the cities of Qeshm, Yasouj and Abadan, respectively.
On the other hand, the average number of visits to each ad in Andisheh city (in Tehran province) was higher than other cities in the country, and the cities of Ahvaz (in Khuzestan province) and Bandar Genaveh (in Bushehr province) are in the next ranks in this regard.
Consoles top the search list
During this time, users have been looking for game consoles more than anything else on Divar. Examining 1,000 searched words in this subcategory, which have been repeated a total of 38 million times, shows that 70% of the searches were related to game consoles.
“Playstation”, “Xbox”, “Sega”, “Nintendo”, “Atari”, “Commodore” and “Game Stick” are the consoles whose names appear among these 1000 words. Among these consoles, PlayStation accounted for more than 75% of searches and nearly 20% of searches belonged to Xbox. The rest of the names have contributed very little to these searches.
According to Microsoft’s official statement, in 2022, about 70% of the global market of these two consoles will be owned by PlayStation and 30% by Xbox. In Iran and among Divar users, of course, PlayStation seems to be a bit more popular than the global market, so that 78% of Divar users’ searches were for this brand and 22% for Xbox. Among the types of PlayStation consoles, PS4 and PS5 are at the top of the table respectively.
In the case of Xbox, the situation is slightly different. The name of Xbox is searched the most without referring to its type and model, followed by the 360 model of this device, which is older, in second place.
“Freefire”, the most popular game
Among the most searched words during this period, the names of 47 computer game titles can be seen, which have been searched more than 7 million times in total, with “Freefire” being the highest with more than a third of the searches. After that, the games “Call of Duty”, “Pubgi” and “Clash of Clans” are placed. These four games together account for nearly 85% of all searches.
One of the most searched words among these 1,000 words is “account”, which has been searched nearly 5.6 million times, both alone and alongside the names of consoles or games. This number is nearly 15% of all searches. Of course, we should note that this word was only searched by searchers in the search bar of this subcategory, and the search of users on Divar in general does not mean buying and selling goods on Divar.
Memory game with console
Many people born in the 50’s and 60’s hear the word “computer game” and remember the names “Atari”, “Commodore” and “Micro”. These names seem to still have fans and many search for them on Divar. In the first 6 months of this year, “Atari” was searched more than 245,000 times, “Micro” more than 39,000 times, and “Commodore” was searched nearly 10,000 times.
It may be interesting to you that “Commodore” was not just a game console, but it was one of the first home computers that did not have a monitor and was connected to a TV, and it was very popular in Iran, like many other countries in the world. Another interesting point is that “Micro” was the name that many Iranians, and as if only Iranians, used for the “Nintendo” console in those years.
Installment and rental console
Buying game consoles is not possible for many people. But the lovers of computer games try their luck, maybe in some way he will become the owner of one of them. The search terms on Divar show that in the first half of this year, the word “installment” was searched for next to the name of PlayStation consoles nearly 39,000 times. Nearly 3 thousand times the word “rental” appears next to the name of these consoles; But these data cannot tell whether luck was on the side of these searchers or not.
Consoles carry the burden of some of the social interactions for the new generation. Examining the Divar data from game console ads does not represent everything that is related to this tool to its consumers, to check the effect of this data and the social effect of the existence of consoles and games, other data are also needed. But reviewing these data will at least make the image of the game consoles market a little clearer and for those interested in this tool, it will create a clearer view of the buying and selling market of these consoles.
