Bijan Abbasi Arand, the CEO of Irancell, in the press conference of the company’s 18th birthday, referring to the effect of filtering on operators’ income, said that filtering has caused $384 million of damage to Irancell in recent years.
According to Iran digital economy annotation, as the operator, he emphasized that he has no role in applying filtering, because this issue occurs at the gateway of traffic entering the country.
Abbasi Arand also mentioned the state of internet traffic in September 2022 and added: At that time, 65% of the country’s internet traffic belonged to WhatsApp and Instagram. He stated that it took more than a year for consumer traffic to return to its previous state.
At the end, Arend emphasized that nearly two-thirds of mobile operator users use filter breakers to access restricted services.
