The second meeting of the Iran Chamber’s New and Knowledge-Based Businesses Commission was held today, November 7th, at the Iran Chamber of Commerce in order to review the draft document “Knowledge-Based Economy”.
According to IDEA, in this meeting, Dr. Afshartabar was a guest at the ceremony from the Vice-Chancellor of Science and presented the document on the knowledge-based economy. He stated in this meeting that now we have 9 thousand knowledge-based companies in the country and less than 5% of the country’s exports are knowledge-based.
Shahin Zohoori, the vice-chairman of the knowledge-based commission of the Chamber of Iran, stated that the actual share of the country’s knowledge-based companies’ exports is below 2.5% and compared it with the 45% share of a country like Singapore.
One of the concerns and matters discussed about the document by those present in this meeting was regarding the independence of private companies and competition by private and state-owned companies. The attendees wanted to include clauses in the document so that the capital-owning sovereign institutions in the country do not compete with the knowledge-based private sector and actually invest.
Hassan Jalili, representing the executive staff of Farman Imam, stated in this meeting that the staff annually invests several hundred billion tomans in knowledge-based companies, and one of the conditions of the staff is that its shares in the companies should be a maximum of 49%, and the exit policy is between 3 and 5 years. has it.
At the end of this meeting, it was stated that each of the members, representing their industry, will announce their opinions regarding the completion of the document within two weeks.
