“Divar” filed a complaint against a person who had published 41,000 duplicate ads by exploiting a software bug.
According to ideaagency, Divar published a statement and announced that the unauthorized actions of this user, which took place between February 2023 and April 2024, were against the rules of using Divar and caused about $33,000 of damage to the users of this platform.
Divar’s statement says: “Following the user’s report and contact with Divar’s support to protest the publication of a large number of duplicate ads in the “Home and Kitchen” category, we realized that this user’s actions led to disruption in the list of ads in this category and reduced efficiency. Ads by thousands of users have been posted. These measures also reduced the chances of success for buyer users to see and trade with other ads in this category.”
Divar announced that “the prosecution of this accused is being processed by the judicial authorities and FATA police, and if he is found guilty, he can be sentenced to punishments including forfeiture of property (reimbursement of $33,000 damages), fine and imprisonment.”
Divar emphasized that this person could have received a reward from this company while committing abuse: “According to Divar’s Bug Bounty reporting bonus program, this person could have received a proper reward by reporting this problem. Divar’s “Bug Joo” program is intended for honest reporting of technical problems of this platform, and the reporting of these cases can have a reward of up to $20,000.
“We have also formed a separate team called ‘Fair Use’ to improve the user experience,” Divar’s statement continued. Part of the duties of this team is to continuously monitor Divar’s ads with the aim of creating methods to automatically detect and remove duplicate and unrealistic ads, as well as to quickly and continuously review user reports to prevent and deal with possible abuses of Divar.
According to Divar’s announcement, “In the past year alone, based on user reports and using artificial intelligence, Divar has restricted nearly 100,000 user accounts due to the publication of duplicate or unreal ads (spam) and also more than 500,000 ads to This is why it has been removed.”
At the end of its statement, Divar wrote: “We always consider ourselves committed to protecting the rights of users and act decisively against any kind of abuse of Divar. In this regard, with the constant monitoring of the platform, in addition to imposing restrictions on the activity of suspected offenders, we have filed complaints against several offenders who harassed our users or attempted to defraud them. And we will inform about this soon.”
