Digikala’s face-to-face sales branch will soon be opened in Tehran. This is the second platform for the sale of goods and services in Iran, which, after a serious presence on the Internet, is moving towards creating a physical store.
According to Iran digital economy annotation, Digikala has announced that it plans to open its branch in Royal Commercial Complex soon. According to Digikala, only digital products such as mobile phones, audio equipment, computer games and mobile accessories will be sold in this store.
Creating a face-to-face branch for Digikala after more than a decade of online presence has raised issues such as Digikala’s move towards the real estate economy, and issues such as increasing the capital of this store and reaching the quorum of Digikala’s online sales are also of interest; Also, the predicted future for the face-to-face store of this internet business has been raised by other questions.
The opening of an in-person store by Digikala, or in other words, a move against the wishes of the digital economy, while Hamid Mohammadi, the co-founder of Digikala, said at the Inotex event: “Startups and the digital economy are one of the few opportunities to get out of the crisis for the country; But the fact is, with the events of the last few years, this window is now almost closing. The window of opportunity of this ecosystem was opened from 2011 to 2021, but we did not use it well and sometimes we even give a ax of it. I hope that reason will return to the heads of those who make this window close with unwise decisions.”
The attractive side of real estate economy for other stores
Before the opening of Digikala’s online store, “Alibaba” entered the offline market after about 10 years of activity in Iran’s online tourism market, and some time after the unveiling of the telephone sales service, it opened its in-person shopping branch in the west of Tehran.
The move towards making online stores face-to-face is not limited to Iran, and in the United States, the Amazon department store has opened its face-to-face branch, and it seems that the plan to open a face-to-face store by online businesses is a global idea.
This trend has also been reversed and Walmart, one of the world’s largest retailers based in the US and with other branches around the world, has recently launched its online store.
