According to the official announcement on the Digikala website, the company has started operating in the Afghan market.
According to Ideaagency, Digikala, Iran’s largest online store, has finally started operating outside the country’s borders and Herat city in Afghanistan has been selected as the first destination. According to the Herat Times local media, Afghan residents can now receive their orders at two in -person delivery sites inside Herat.
Digikala’s long step beyond Iran’s borders; Herat, the first station in Afghanistan
The Digikala announcement on the website said that Afghan customers in Iran’s Digikala can register and receive their orders to Herat. In addition, people in Afghanistan but wish to buy from Digikala must go through the order registration process with the help of their friends or acquaintances in Iran and receive their goods in Afghanistan (Herat city). As such, it is not possible to order directly from within the Afghan territory, and Iran’s domestic customers at the order delivery phase can choose two in -person delivery addresses in Herat.
According to Digikala, the delivery in Afghanistan takes between one week and ten days. In addition, some goods such as gold, cell phones, early food and bulk goods such as large kitchen appliances and furniture are among the forbidden list and cannot be shipped to Afghanistan.
The co-founders of this company announced in 2018 that they are interested in starting their activities in countries with less internet maturity – including Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and Armenia. Although this program is now implemented with a delay of five to six years, it seems that their long-standing wish to enter the regional markets is coming true. In recent months, various rumors were heard about the expansion of this company’s activity outside of Iran, and now with the publication of this official news, it seems that preparations have been made for this online store to work in Afghanistan.
Digikala’s entry into Afghanistan can also provide a new opportunity for local businessmen and manufacturers to offer their goods to a wider range of customers through this platform. Experts believe that this company’s success in developing its services in Afghanistan could provide the ground for other Iranian technology companies into regional markets and increase competition in e -commerce.
Needless to say, Digikala’s entry into the Afghan market after the first mobile investment in this online store.
