Hamid Mohammadi, the co-founder of Digikala, in response to the statements of Rasoul Jalili, a member of the Supreme Council of Cyber Space, who claimed that filtering is the cause of business growth, published an article on the X social network (formerly Twitter) and announced: “Filtering is not in the interest of anyone; Not the people, not the digital businesses, not even the government.”
According to Ideaagency, he also criticized the statements of filtering supporters and added: “Those who say that Iranian businesses cannot grow without filtering should not make decisions for businesses. Fixing filtering is a public demand, and businesses’ credit should not be spent to justify filtering.”
Mohammadi asked CEOs of e-commerce businesses to be transparent and honest about whether filtering has helped or hindered their growth.
The public relations of router Neshan and Mohammadjavad Shakouri Moghadam, the CEO of Sabaidea (Aparat and Filimo) had also previously expressed their critical views in response to the positive effect of filtering on the growth of domestic businesses. Neshan announced in a statement that its success was the result of healthy competition and team effort and not imposed restrictions, and considered filtering policies to be a factor in increasing user fees and reducing trust in internal services. In a statement criticizing Jalili’s statements, Neshan said that policies restricting the virtual space caused an increase in the costs of several thousand billion tomans for users and a decrease in the security of mobile phones. Jalili claimed in a TV show that the replacement of the badge with Waze is an example of the success of filtering.
In response, Neshan emphasized that this success was the result of healthy competition and team effort, not the elimination of competitors. Shakouri Moghadam: Aparat are not an excuse to justify filtering
Mohammadjavad Shakouri Moghadam, CEO of Sabaidea (Aparat and Filimo) , also reacted to Jalili’s statement that people are satisfied with the YouTube filter due to the presence of Aparat. Criticizing this claim, he said: “Does the member of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace know that right now we are involved in five cases of complaints about Aparat?”
He clarified: “Aparat should not be a stick to justify wrong policies like YouTube filtering. “We have said many times that YouTube filtering should be removed.” Shakouri Moghadam emphasized the right of users to choose and said: “People should decide which platform to use in a competitive and free environment.”
