The conversation of digital transformation in the game of the greats
At the end of this event, a discussion panel was held with the presence of Mostafa Sargolzaei, a member of the Board of Directors of Refah Karegaran Bank, Majid Ahmadi, CEO of Hamsa, Dr. Farzaneh Abolfazl, Senior Consultant for Digital Transformation of Parsian Data Processing Holding, and Mohammad Sadegh Azadani, Chairman of the Landtech Commission. And this panel was managed by Mehdi Ojani.
Sargolzaei said in this panel: “We only entered electronic banking, not digital transformation. I think that knowing the customer, understanding the need and designing the product has been traditional and has not been done in line with the digital transformation.”
Referring to the indicators of digital transformation, Ahmadi said: “We implemented the development of access to banking services well, and digital tools have also penetrated well among people. Customer experience, which is also very important in the world, is an important issue, and we were not able to perform well in this area.”
Regarding the regulator, Abolfazl said: “The regulator is not an independent institution of this industry. The regulator receives training and data from the industry and returns it to it. The regulator provides regulatory guidelines, but is not unilateral. “The regulator should be composed of industry elites.”
Azadani added: “The regulator comes to create a balance, if it disturbs this balance, it is due to the lack of effective communication. This makes the regulator lag behind.”
Abolfazl added: “Traditional banks should arrange their layers so that external groups can apply innovation to them. These companies are created for risky and creative tasks that are not aligned with the traditional system and should not be, in some cases they complement each other. For this reason, there is a need to create a distance between these layers.”
Ahmadi also acknowledged: “All the talk about digital transformation is for the benefit of the people (users). “In the field of data, we have fundamental problems that cannot be solved with the usual compliments.”
Abolfazl also summarized the challenges of digital transformation in Iran as follows: “We don’t have the right investment in technology and startups, and the reason for that is the fear of risk, and this fear also comes from a lack of transparency.”
