47% of mobile phone searches on Divar this year were for iPhones and 36% for Samsung Galaxy
According to Iran digital economy annotation, Divar data shows that this year, ads for Samsung phones were at the top, but the iPhone was the record breaker for mobile searches.
47% of searches for mobile phones on Divar this year belonged to iPhone types and 36% belonged to Samsung Galaxy types. Also, iPhone 13 is at the top of searches for Apple phones, and iPhone 14 is at 10th place.
For years, there has been a heated battle between Apple players and native Samsung players. Which of them has the upper hand in this competition has not been answered so far. Apple fans have been in trouble for some time due to the ban on the registration of the company’s new phones in Iran, but some still don’t give up on iPhones 14 and 15. Samsung fans, however, can buy them registered the day after the introduction of the flagships of this brand, and this story has increased the fire of this whole.
Apple phones are so popular in Iran that by buying new phones, a group even accepts the risk of the antenna being cut off every day, and even selling iPhones below the world price becomes a big fraud against thousands of people.
For this reason, we have gone to the market of Apple products on Divar platform and we have also taken a look at the market of Samsung phones to see which one is the winner of this total.
What is happening in the global market?
According to the latest statistics published by Reuters in January 2024, after 12 years, Apple has managed to end Samsung’s global dominance and become the leader in the global mobile phone market share. According to this report, in January of this year, the share of iPhone phones in the world market was 20.1%, and Samsung’s share fell to 19.4%; Of course, it is not unlikely that Samsung will take over again soon.
Advertising accessories
The variety of Apple products in Divar ads and of course among the searches of users of this platform is very high; Apple Watch, Macbook, iPad, iPod, AirPods, and… and of course iPhone. Naturally, the largest share of ads belongs to different iPhone series. In fact, this year, Apple phones accounted for 70% of all advertisements for the various products of this brand. The second place belongs to all kinds of Apple phone and tablet accessories, which have allocated 22% of these ads to themselves, and the share of the rest of the products was 8%.
In all of Apple’s products, 71% of the items advertised on Divar were second-hand; Of course, the share of second-hand items among Apple’s “phones” was more and about 81%.
Where is the Apple market hotter in Iran?
Advertisers in Hormozgan, Alborz and Khorasan-Razavi provinces have published the most advertisements of Apple products in relation to their population. However, the users of Tehran, Zanjan and Fars provinces have been the most popular customers for these advertisements. The highest average number of calls to each ad belongs to Tehran province. On average, Tehran contacted each of Apple’s advertisements 14 times, Zanjan residents 13 times, and Fars province residents 13 times.
Are Apple players ahead or Samsung players?
This year, iPhones have been ranked second among the phones advertised on Divar. Yes, your guess is correct; Samsung was the first. But the story does not end there; Divar users were mostly looking for iPhone.
In total, 33 different brands of mobile phones have been advertised on Divar since the beginning of this year, the share of Samsung Galaxy phones was 36% of these ads and the share of iPhone series was 29%. How about searching? iPhone’s share of user searches was 47% of the total phone searches, and Samsung’s share was 36%.
14 and above, if it is not registered, 13 reigns!
Among the searches for Apple products, all types of iPhone phones are at the top of the table. Divar users have searched for iPhone in 86% of their searches for various Apple products this year. After iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods are next.
But among the types of Apple phone series, iPhone 13 (with 23% of searches) is the leader. After that, there are series 11 and 12 respectively. It is interesting that the iPhone 14, which is not legally registered, is ranked 10th in this table with a share of 2% of searches.
After all, which one is higher?
According to Divar statistics, this question has two different answers from two different angles. If we look from the point of view of advertisements, this year Samsung had a larger share of published advertisements. However, if we look from the point of view of mobile phone customers, Divar users have been looking for iPhone more. As a rule, the popularity in the market should be measured by the amount of search. We should also keep in mind that the battle of these two brands in the Iranian market is a battle of inequality; Samsung’s latest models are registered without any problems, but Apple’s registry is legally prohibited.
