According to IDEA, Mehdi Safarinia, the head of Pardis Technology Park, stated in a press conference on September 4th, that accelerator qualification certificates will be valid for two years. He also added: ‘The extension of these certificates will be based on their annual assessment score.’
Safarinia also discussed the accelerator qualification process, mentioning that, based on the new guidelines from the Deputy of Science, accelerators will be evaluated at two levels. He continued by acknowledging the gradual growth of accelerators but emphasized the condition of support by the Deputy of Science under the Presidency to adhere to the laws and guidelines set by the institution.
New Guidelines from the Deputy of Science to Support Accelerators
Safarinia, the head of Pardis Technology Park, discussed the establishment of accelerators, stating, ‘Previously, some entities had taken steps to establish accelerators, and the Deputy of Science has also developed standards for these types of centers.’
He continued, ‘Over a 9-year period at the Pardis Technology Park’s Innovation Accelerator Center, we issued qualification certificates for 78 establishments based on specific frameworks.’
Referring to the details of the new guidelines from the Deputy of Science regarding support for the development of innovation accelerators, innovative coworking spaces, and entrepreneurship centers, Safarinia stated, ‘Innovation accelerators are currently operating if the applicants are qualified and have achieved scores in assessment indicators. They are evaluated at Level One and Level Two. The validity of the issued qualification certificate is two years, and its extension will be based on their annual assessment score.
Factors Leading to the Revocation of Accelerator Qualification Licenses
In a recent session, the head of Pardis Technology Park, Safarinia, discussed the factors leading to the revocation of accelerator qualification licenses. He stated, ‘Verification of the correctness and accuracy of the presented documents, issuance of a criminal conviction verdict against the founding entity, failure to declare fundamental changes in the accelerator resulting in a significant decline in service quality, non-cooperation during inspections, failure to provide periodic reports, non-adherence to the presented business plan and development and financial model, and making decisions after receiving complaints and inspecting inspector reports are among the factors that will result in the revocation of accelerator qualification certificates.’
He emphasized, ‘In case an accelerator lacks necessary conditions, the Innovation Accelerator Center at Pardis Park will assist it in reaching Level One and Level Two of acceleration, so that it becomes eligible for the support of the Deputy of Science.’
Safarinia also commented on the incremental growth of accelerators in the country, stating, ‘There is no obstacle to the expansion of these centers; however, only the centers eligible for support from the Deputy will be able to develop their activities according to these guidelines.’
Regarding the evaluation criteria for accelerators, the head of Pardis Technology Park stated, ‘Although their future plans are important in the evaluation process, we assess them based on their past performance.’
He emphasized that our evaluations are based on the indicators outlined in these guidelines, adding, ‘The timing of evaluations depends on the level of cooperation from the entities, and we have instances where we have provided qualification confirmation to applicant companies within three days.
