The reduction in the electricity tariff for cryptocurrency mining has been announced. This decision was revised in August and has now been announced by Tavanir.
According to Tavanir’s announcement
The price of electricity consumed by mining centers has reached 26,257 rials per kilowatt-hour. The new electricity tariff for mining is set for three months from August 19th to November 19th of this year.
As reported by IDEA, this announcement was made by Tavanir to regional power companies and power distribution companies on September 5th. It’s worth noting that less than a month ago, a revision was made to the energy tariff for cryptocurrency mining. The issue raised by the Parliamentary Joint Commission was the responsibility of the Central Bank as the regulator and owner of the industry, leading to this amendment.
However, the Ministry of Energy has also proposed changes in this amendment, including the removal of tariffs and value-added tax (VAT). This is because the mining industry is considered an exporter, and collecting these amounts poses legal and religious issues for the government. To address this, calculations are being adjusted so that by reducing the base rate, the total amount does not include tariffs and VAT.
Another proposal from the Ministry of Energy is to change the basis for calculating export tariffs from the NIMA system to the gold and currency system, which would increase the tariff rates. Implementing these two changes would result in a slight reduction in the tariff rate.
