Recently, the home show platforms Filmnet and Filimo have caused dissatisfaction among users by adding advertisements at the beginning, end and even in the middle of the movies on their platform. The users of these platforms believe that they should not be required to watch advertisements on Filmnet and Filimo because of the fee they pay to buy a subscription and use the premium service.
According to Iran digital economy annotation, on the page related to the rules and regulations of Filimo’s home show platform, it is mentioned “Filimo has the right to broadcast advertisements in any part of the content in order to reduce costs and prevent the increase of subscription prices.”
Filimo cited price control as the reason for displaying ads on its platform. Now the question arises whether the display of ads has really led to the stability of subscription fees on this platform or has it just brought a new revenue channel to the Filimo platform?!
It is not allowed to display advertisements on Filmnet
On the other hand, in no part of the rules and regulations page of Filmnet, there is no information about the instructions or the right that this platform has given to users to display advertisements.
It seems that displaying advertisements in this service is illegal and Filmnet imposes this action on its subscription users without their consent.
