A draft of the drug distribution plan was presented through the platforms

For months, drug distribution platforms have been waiting for a detailed instruction on how to operate, and with the repeated delays of the Ministry of Health and the Association of Pharmacists, finally the Vice President for Science and Technology stepped in and presented his own proposal in this regard

According to Iran digital economy annotation, since last year, these two institutions have repeatedly expressed their opposition to the distribution of medicine through platforms by holding numerous meetings, and the deadlines given by the Presidential Scientific Vice-Chancellor have not been very effective.

In 2022, the Council of Ministers, in Note 2, Article 8, of the regulation on supporting knowledge-based production and job creation in the field of health, mandated the Ministry of Health and the Association of Pharmacists to, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications, issue guidelines for the distribution of drugs through Internet businesses within two months.

notify After that, the Presidential Vice President for Science and Technology asked the Ministry of Health and the Pharmacists Association once in late June of this year with a two-week deadline and again in August of this year with a four-month deadline of two weeks to issue guidelines for the distribution of drugs through online platforms. 

The repeated opposition of the Pharmacists Association and the Ministry of Health to drug distribution by platforms led to numerous meetings between the Pharmacists Association and the Internet platforms for drug distribution, but did not reach a clear result. Finally, the president’s science and technology vice president, by entering the principle 90 of the parliamentary committee and threatening to file a lawsuit, convened another meeting on December 20, and in this meeting, the pharmacists’ association was given another one-month opportunity, which, of course, provided the necessary instructions for the distribution of drugs in Internet platforms did not provide drug distribution.

In this way, the Presidential Science and Technology Vice President has entered into this issue and has decided to draft a plan for the distribution of medicine through Internet platforms and propose it to the First Vice President.

Although the Association of Pharmacists and the Ministry of Health have declared the illegality of drug distribution through internet platforms as the most important reason for their opposition, the Vice President for Science and Technology in a letter to the First Vice President; Not only has he rejected the illegality of the internet distribution of medicine, but he has considered it to be in accordance with the laws and resolutions of the government and parliament.
