The CEO of Asiatech announced the company’s plan to provide fiber optic internet to four million households by the beginning of 2024
According to the Iran digital economy annotation, In an event held to explain the National Optical Fiber Project, Asiatech’s CEO announced the company’s plan to provide fiber optic internet to four million households.
This event was held on Saturday, December 10, with the presence of the Vice President of Strategy and Market Development of the Regulatory Organization and the managers of the companies implementing the fiber optic project at the University of Broadcasting and Broadcasting. In this meeting, “Mohammad Ali Yousefizadeh”, CEO of Asiatech Company; “Mohammad Hassan Shaneh saz zadeh”, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shatel Company; Saber Feizi, CEO of Fanap Telecom and Alireza Saeedi, CEO of Mobinnet were present.
At the beginning of the event, “Mehdi Rouhaninejad”, Vice President of Strategy and Market Development of Radio Communications Regulatory Organization, while pointing out the statistical difference in the use of Internet users in Iran, said: “In Iran, contrary to the global trend, where Internet communication is based on fixed Internet, the main “Traffic is based on mobile communication, and this issue has caused challenges in the field of providing high-quality Internet services to users.”
In order to provide a solution to this problem, he said: “At the beginning of the 13th government, a new goal was set so that by the end of 2023, about 80 percent of households, i.e. 20 million households, would be covered by high-speed fiber optic internet. For the implementation of this project, 10 operators were considered to help the development of the project by dividing the cities and provinces of the country, each in a geographical area.
Mohammad Ali Yousefizadeh, Managing Director of Asiatech Company, said about the company’s activities in the national optical fiber project: “At the beginning of 2022, Asiatech became a public company and entered the stock market, after that the optical fiber project coincided with the World Day Communications were communicated to the company by the Ministry of Communications. Based on this, the first executive operation of the Asiatech optical fiber project started in October 2022 in Chalus city of Mazandaran province. Although our commitment according to the issued license is about one million five hundred thousand households, but our estimate is that we can provide optical fiber access to four million households.
The CEO of Asiatech continued, referring to the global trends of fiber optic internet penetration in the world: “According to the announced statistics, the number of fiber optic internet subscribers in the world reaches 840 million people, which constitutes about 60% of all fixed internet users, as well as the size of this market. In 2022, it is estimated to be around 47 billion dollars. Also, among the successful countries in the development of broadband based on optical fiber, countries such as China, Hong Kong, UAE and Singapore can also be mentioned.
According to him, the fiber optic project of this company in different cities of the country’s provinces including: Mazandaran including the cities of Chalus, Neka, Abbasabad, Kiakla and Noshtarud, Kermanshah, Tehran, Tabriz, Mashhad, Zanjan including the cities of Zanjan and Khorramdara, Lorestan including Khorramabad, Durud, Aligudarz , Azna Walshtar, Fars including the cities of Kazron, Shiraz, Abadeh and Jahrom, Isfahan including the cities of Khwansar, Golpayegan and Daran, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari including the cities of Sefid Dasht and Aloni and Semnan including the cities of Garmsar, Semnan, Mehdishahr and Damghan.
Yousefizadeh, describing the continuation of the activities that are going on in Asiatech at the same time as the optical fiber project, said: “One of the future needs of fiber optic high-speed Internet users is access to suitable content. In this field, Asiatech operates in several sectors.
One of them is the data centers that currently hold 70% of the country’s traffic. The second part includes the provision of entertaining content that Asiatech has launched, one of the few subscription-free platforms for streaming movies and series, Tamasha khooneh. The third part includes cloud services based on the data center and network platform, in which Asiatech provides various services.
At the end of the event “Explanation of the National Optical Fiber Project”, time was devoted to the questions and answers of managers and students of the University of Radio and Television. At the end, the managers of the operators gave gifts to the selected students.
