Examining the Divar ads shows that the category of “recruitment and employment” (with 27%) has the largest share of these ads; from academic books to employment and job search
According to the Iran digital economy annotation, the report of Divar newsroom on the occasion of Student’s Day shows that during the first 8 months of this year, the largest share of student advertisements in Divar belonged to the “Recruitment and Employment” category.
The largest share of “student” ads on Divar in the first 8 months of this year belonged to the “recruitment and employment” category, and such ads were published in all 12 of its subcategories. Law and psychology books have a total of 54% of all university book searches on the Divar in the first 8 months of this year.
According to official statistics, more than 3 million students are studying in Iran. Half of these students study in humanities, about 24% in technical and engineering and 8% in medical sciences. The rest of the educational groups are in the next ranks. It is interesting that the most searched academic books on Divar belong to the humanities department, especially law and psychology. In these 8 months, the books of these two fields have allocated more than half of the searches of the wall users.
But all students’ lives are not summarized in books and lessons. Many students are forced to work and have an income due to the high cost of living and also the tuition fees of their universities. Some of them, of course, seek to gain experience in the labor market and are looking for a job while they are still students.
Divar data shows that both groups of these students can hope to find a job even in the recession market these days. The evidence is that in different categories of Divar , some job ads want student job seekers or accept student job seekers for those job positions.
On the occasion of Student’s Day, Divar published statistics of advertisements on this platform in a report. To see in which categories of the wall student ads are published, which are the most jobs that are related to the word “student” in these ads, what share of searches do university books have on the wall, and which books are the most sought after. You can read the answers to all these questions and more below.
“Student work” on Divar
According to Divar newsroom, students do not have an independent category in Divar platform like many other professional or professional titles. For this reason, to see in which categories of Divar , related to students, ads have been published, we have gone to all the ads that have the word “student” in their title or text. Examining these ads shows that the category of “recruitment and employment” (with 27%) has the largest share of these ads, followed by the categories of real estate and digital goods, respectively.
“Recruitment and job search” category is in the first place from another point of view; Employers and business owners who are looking for labor have published “student” ads in all 12 subcategories of “recruitment and employment”. Among these sub-categories, “marketing and sales” (with 31 percent) has a larger share than other sub-categories, and “transportation” (with 1 percent) is at the bottom of the table.
The jobs offered to students in these ads are diverse, from accounting to cyberspace admin to content creation and website SEO to sales and marketing.
“Even” student apartments!
Divar’s “property” category is the second most popular “student” category. Usually, “student” real estate ads specify in their title that the unit in question is rented to students. In the title or text of some of them, it is emphasized that they do not rent to students. Among these, sometimes there are ads that seem like they have no other choice and out of necessity they have agreed to rent their unit “even” to students!
Looking for textbooks and maybe non-textbooks
In the first 8 months of this year, users of Divar have searched more than 8,200,000 times for all kinds of educational books and textbooks. The share of academic books from these searches was nearly 20%. The largest share, of course, belongs to textbooks and textbooks from elementary to the national entrance exam (bachelor’s), which have a total of 72% of these searches.
Among the academic disciplines, humanities books have had the largest share among users’ searches. Books in the fields of “law” and “psychology” were at the top of all searched books, and in total, more than 54% of all university books searched on Divar were assigned to them during this period.
Among the non-textbooks, three titles “Driving Code”, “Engineering System” and “Language” were searched more than other titles respectively. The share of these books is more than 70% of the searches for non-course books on Divar . Naturally, the data on Divar does not accurately show how many of these searches students have performed.
The air is still unhealthy for sensitive groups!
Although the platforms, in order to serve all active groups in the country, including students, try to facilitate the conditions for their activity, and although according to the data, students meet many of their needs through Divar, nevertheless, according to the latest report of the Observatory Iranian immigration (immigration calendar 2022), the number of Iranian students abroad is more than 66,000, and according to this, Iran ranks 17th among the countries with the highest number of immigrants in the world.
The same yearbook reports that the two main factors that have provided the most important reasons for the migration of Iran’s “students and graduates” are the country’s economic instability and hopelessness about the future, respectively. Of course, this observatory considers other reasons to be effective on this issue, which are beyond the scope of this report.
However, according to the data of the Iranian Migration Observatory, what is happening and probably everyone can confirm is the loss of the country’s most important capital with the migration of students and scientific elites of our country.
