The head of the Innovation Acceleration Center believes that this center, as a part of the governing body, should work in order to attract capital for startups
According to the Iran digital economy annotation, Mehdi Azimian, head of the Innovation Acceleration Center at the first Demoday event of Pardis Technology Park, while introducing this park from its 9-year activity in supporting entrepreneurship events and creating accelerators, said:
“The goal of the Innovation Acceleration Center was to be able to play a role to be effective as a starting point for entrepreneurs in our country and to carry out the initial stages of the entrepreneurial environment that requires the initial space, team building and support necessary to start entrepreneurship.”
He further added: “About two months ago, the presidential scientific vice-chancellor approved a new regulation supporting accelerators and shared workspaces, the implementation of which was entrusted to the Innovation Acceleration Center. In addition to the activities we did for the accelerators, we felt the need to work as a part of the governing body in order to help attract capital for startups.”
Regarding holding fund raising events for startups, Azimian added: “Perhaps accelerators alone cannot gather their desired investors or provide such an opportunity to present their teams. With the support of the scientific vice president and with the mission that has been defined for us, events of this kind will be held in order to take steps towards attracting capital and growing startups.”
Navid Moafian, the executive secretary of this meeting, also pointed out the importance of supporting startups that have an initial product and entered the market, and said the important role of holding such events continuously and added: “One or two events are planned to be held annually in this direction. We hope that every year, in addition to the presence of different teams, we will also help improve their level.
The first Demoday event of the Campus Technology Park Innovation Acceleration Center was held at the Vcast Innovation Center with the presence of 8 selected teams among the 19 startup teams that were judged during two weeks.
In this event, startup teams in various fields such as data security, health, computer games, and tourism introduced their startups and answered investors’ questions.
Investors also shared their opinions about the strengths and weaknesses of these startups directly with them and wrote notes for each team at the end.
