45 employers, 20 thousand job seekers and 800 job positions. according to the organizers of this event, Sharif’s work exhibition is supposed to strengthen the connection between industry and university
According to the IDEA, The 13th edition of “Sharif University Job Fair” was organized by Jobvision and under the auspices of Sharif University at Professor Jabari Hall of this university. An exhibition that hosted large industrial and technological companies and, of course, enthusiastic students and job seekers looking for work.
The main goal of holding such an exhibition is to create a bridge between the industry and the university and to introduce talented and inexperienced workers to the labor market; An event that may have a small effect on the large wave of labor migration from the country, which is one of the main problems of the country these days.
It seems that after a two-year hiatus in holding the Sharif Work Exhibition, this event in its 13th edition has been well received by companies and visitors. Big companies such as “Snapp Group”, “Digikala”, “Hamrahe Aval”, “Irancell”, “the system group”, “Tosan Techno”, and about forty other companies in various fields hosted those interested in recruitment and employment in this exhibition.
According to Meghdad Velaei, the CEO of Jobvision, this exhibition was not held for two years due to the Corona virus and the conditions of the country, and now its 13th edition is being held. he mentioned: “In addition to this exhibition, the sixth edition of the Iran Job Fair will also be held in Tehran’s Milad Tower in February this year. Thirteen times of the Sharif exhibition and five times of the Iran exhibition are among Jobvision’s exhibition portfolio.”
According to him, the Iran job fair has a more general audience and most of the people who attend this fair are people with work experience. This is while the Sharif work exhibition has a student theme and a higher percentage of visitors are people with little or no work experience.
10 thousand visitors in 2 days
Velaei continued about the number of visitors to this exhibition: “The exhibition had about 10,000 visitors in the first two days. The third day is usually a busier day than the other days. Our estimate is that the total number of visitors will reach 20,000 by the end of this period of the exhibition.
According to the CEO of the company organizing the exhibition, nearly 800 job positions have been defined by the companies in this event. Also, nearly 45 companies are present in this exhibition. Industrial companies such as Golgohar, as well as technological companies such as Digikala, Snapp, Irancell, etc., are present in this exhibition.
Pointing out that during the two days of this exhibition, about 12,000 resumes have been sent to companies through the Jobvision panel, he explained: “Besides this exhibition, we have a series of workshops that are held in career fields and career path designs. During these three days, nearly 20 educational workshops will be held in this exhibition, the organizers of which are the senior forces of the companies.”
Regarding the structure of the exhibition, Velaei said: “In this exhibition, there are rooms called interview and consultation rooms, so that if the companies need to interview the job seekers, this will happen in the exhibition environment. The counseling room is also for receiving advices for the detailed design of career paths for people. Since this process is taking place in the university environment, its visitors are mostly junior and inexperienced students and job seekers.
The CEO of Jobvision believes that companies are facing two problems in this exhibition. One is the employer brand issue that companies are trying to answer the question of why job seekers should choose them. Another issue is that people get to know companies, human resources processes and their view of human resources. In addition, companies have announced their open job positions in this exhibition and people get to know them.
He also pointed out that the communication established in this exhibition helps organizations to have a better evaluation of resumes and can speed up the resume selection process.
Velaei explained about the previous periods of this exhibition: “According to the statistics, during the previous periods of Sharif Work Exhibition, more than 4 thousand people were employed through this exhibition; That means, on average, 200 to 300 people have been recruited by the companies in each period.”
According to the CEO of Jobvision, the reception of this exhibition has been very good. One of the positive features of their work exhibitions on a university scale is that the audience and visitors are the target of companies and organizations. He also said: “Since one of the important missions of the university is to be able to introduce students to the job market, therefore the university itself is always working and cooperating in holding this exhibition.”
He also expressed his hope about holding this exhibition in the cities and said: “We hope that these exhibitions will be held in the cities as well. Before Corona, we held one round of this exhibition in Isfahan and we are trying to hold the second round in this city with the cooperation of universities. Even though some companies offer the job positions of the cities in this exhibition, but still few people from the city attend this exhibition.”
“Students feel that they don’t have a good future job”
The country’s first mobile phone operator, i.e. the first mobile phone operator, is one of the organizations that is present at the Sharif job fair. Hamidreza Habibollah, the head of the recruitment and recruitment department of the first companion company, stated about the presence of this company in this exhibition:
“We decided to have an active presence in exhibitions that are closely related to students. One of the problems that we have in the country, and it happens to be one of the main causes of migration, is that students feel that they do not have a good job in Iran. The goal we are pursuing in this exhibition is to introduce promising jobs to job seekers.”
He also continued: “We present job fields to job seekers and offer them suitable job opportunities according to their skills. In the long run, this can affect the accelerated process of immigration. “We tried to identify the root goals of immigration and assure them that we can provide them with a suitable career.”
According to Habibollah, the reception of this organization’s booth, especially the workshop section, has been good. In addition, the first companion has seriously identified the talented forces and is going to start communicating with them after the exhibition so that the talented people have the opportunity to work alongside the experts.
The relationship between industry and university is being formed
“Mohsen Azimi”, the employer brand manager of Digikala, also believes that the Sharif job fair is the most reliable job fair in the Iranian market; Because it is held in the heart of the university. he mentioned: “Digikala has been participating in this exhibition for about four times. The students of Sharif University and other universities have been well received.
This year, we also have an internship plan, which, along with the job fair, allowed us to attract good personnel in this field. We collect resumes in this exhibition and review them after the exhibition. Automating the process of reviewing resumes has made the review easier.”
According to him, holding the exhibition may not help to reduce immigration, but our goal is that students can work in large organizations like Digikala immediately after graduation and without work experience, and the connection between industry and university is formed.
