What is the Shahrzad app of Tehran Metro and how can we charge our metro ticket using it?
According to the IDEA, it has recently been announced that electronic wallets will replace metro and bus tickets. Fava organization of Tehran Municipality has designed the Shahrzad app so that Tehrani citizens can use the metro and BRT from their mobile phones without buying a physical ticket. With this app, you can use Tehran’s public transportation with a QR code.
The Shahrzad system was created in July this year to buy fruits and vegetables online, and now it is possible to use it for bus and subway transportation. Before this, we introduced you the methods of buying metro and bus tickets online, but the Shahrzad application is slightly different from them.
Using the Shahrzad system, you actually define a citizen’s wallet for yourself, and by charging it, you can buy a metro and BRT ticket or charge your ticket. You can also use it in the future to use other city services.
Recharge metro and bus card with Shahrzad app
First, install the Shahrzad application or enter it through the web version of the application. You must enter your mobile number and enter the validation code to be able to use the services of this application.
To use the electronic ticket card, it is necessary to have a balance in your citizen’s wallet. To increase the balance, first enter the ticket card section and select the citizen wallet option. Then enter your desired amount and increase your balance through banking portals.
Your ticket will be displayed as a QR code after entering the ticket card section. To travel, it is enough to place your mobile phone screen in the designated area of the entrance gate and pass. You can save this code or share it with others so that your friends and family can use it. Of course, this ticket is valid for ten days and you can use it.
If you have a physical ticket card and want to connect it to the citizen wallet, you must enter the ticket card section and select the add new card option through the My Cards option. Here you need to enter the serial number on the back of your physical card. Note that you see three options of normal e-ticket, student e-ticket and student e-ticket in this section, and you must choose your own ticket.
After your physical ticket card is connected to the citizen wallet, if you use the subway and BRT lines, the travel fee will be deducted from your citizen wallet. But if you use private sector buses, the cost of travel will be reduced from charging your physical ticket card.
The electronic ticket card has the feature that if your physical card is lost, its validity remains in your citizen’s wallet. After each time you use your electronic ticket card, you cannot use it again for one minute. If you use an electronic ticket card for the subway, place it in front of the gate when you exit so that your travel distance is calculated.
