Eisa Zarepour, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, presented a report on the status of domestic messaging applications and considered the number of active users on these messaging platforms to be significant and good.
According to IDEA, he met with Hojatoleslam val-Moslemin Movahedi, the Attorney General of the country, at the Attorney General’s Office.
He stated, “Fortunately, with the support of domestic social networks, the trend of using these messaging apps has been very positive, and reports indicate the society’s interest in these networks. In the past two weeks alone, one of these messaging apps has added one million active daily users, reaching a total of 16 million daily active users.”
Zarepour had emphasized that the daily active users of messaging apps vary, but based on assessments, several tens of thousands of new users are added to these platforms daily. It is hoped that this trend will continue, and more people will join and use these messaging apps.
In recent years and through various methods, domestic platforms and internet businesses have received support from governments. Among these measures, one can mention the provision of suitable bandwidth, reducing data consumption tariffs to one-third of internet tariffs, and providing free co-working spaces.
