An overview of the challenges of human resource shortages in a conversation with Emad Qa’eni, CEO of Ilia Management Consulting Company.
A report prepared by Ilia Management Consulting Company last year, in which the approaches and concerns of CEOs of companies were collected and published, confirms that the issue of specialized human resource shortages is a serious concern for companies, especially in the technology sector. According to IDEA, Emad Qa’eni, the CEO of this company, says: ‘Migration is one of the influential factors in the concern of the shortage of specialized human resources. For example, the CEO of one of the companies active in the software field mentioned that currently about six former employees of this company are working together in a foreign company.’
Increasing Age of Migration
He continues: ‘Based on information obtained from discussions with the human resources managers of companies, migration is no longer limited to single and developer talents, and its scope has expanded to other specialties. In the field of the age of migration, previously most individuals under the age of 30 would migrate, but now the age range of those who migrate has increased.’
Qa’eni, in addition to migration, mentions issues such as hope for the future among individuals and the fact that university graduates are not adequately prepared to meet the needs of companies as influential factors in the challenge of the shortage of specialized human resources.
Dollar Payment is Not Determining
He points out that financial discussions such as dollar-based salary payments can have some impact on reducing migration to some extent, but believes that this impact will not be decisive. Migration also includes other factors such as quality of life, hope for the future, and so on, which are beyond the control of companies.
He believes: ‘In the field of knowledge-based and innovative companies, since it is the thinking, creativity, and problem-solving ability of individuals that can solve problems, the challenge of specialized workforce can have a significant impact on the performance of such companies; human resources are a factor that can effectively utilize other production factors.’
Qa’eni talks about the migration of managers and entrepreneurs: ‘We used to see a growing startup ecosystem with various startups forming and starting their activities. However, at present, attracting capital in this area has become difficult, and challenges in terms of financial support, the growth of startups, the expectations that investors must have, and so on, are issues that entrepreneurs face. As a result, individuals who intend to start a business become disillusioned by looking at these conditions, and migration becomes a serious matter for them.’
Confusion, the prevailing social atmosphere
Another challenge that businesses are facing is the high turnover of personnel among domestic companies. The CEO of Ilia Management Consulting Company says: ‘Based on information obtained from CEOs, some employees in a company, due to unfavorable social and economic conditions, do not feel well, and they believe that changing their workplace might improve their well-being. In fact, we are witnessing a kind of confusion that can be called the prevailing social atmosphere. Another factor in this regard is the issue of income. Given the difficult economic conditions individuals are facing, a relatively good income difference can be a significant factor in the relocation of individuals from one company to another.’
