According to IDEA, the annual report of Yektanet shows that 80 percent of the population across various age and educational groups use VPNs to access social networks and messaging platforms.
More than half of the world’s advertisements are conducted through digital methods. According to estimates, 65 percent of total global advertising is digital, while 35 percent is non-digital. In 2022, the total digital advertising market was $580 billion, of which the Middle East and North Africa contributed only $5.8 billion.
North America had a share of $237.7 billion, Asia had $125.7 billion, Europe had $99.6 billion, Australia had $96.5 billion, and North America had $14.7 billion of the digital advertising market. Comparing the size of the digital advertising market to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of different regions, Australia leads in terms of the size of the digital advertising market relative to GDP. It is predicted that internet advertising spending will reach $835 billion by 2026.
In a report titled ‘Digital Marketing in Iran 1401,’ Yektanet provided statistics on the level of digital advertising in various channels. According to this report, the amount of advertising on Iranian websites reached its lowest point in Mehr month (September-October) of the past year.
80 percent of people use VPNs to access social networks
The average daily internet usage in Iran is 169 minutes. According to a survey by the EMRC research company, the main reasons for Iranian users to use the internet are staying connected with family and friends, acquiring information, and online shopping. 89 percent of the country’s people access the Persian web through mobile phones, compared to 74 percent in 2019.
80 percent of people in various age groups use VPNs to access social networks and messaging apps. The annual financial turnover of VPN purchases and sales in the past year was estimated to be between 25 to 30 trillion tomans.
VPN usage is common among all age and education groups, and middle-aged users almost use VPNs as much as young users. VPN usage among 15 to 17-year-olds is 97 percent, and it is not less than 73 percent in other age groups.
63 percent of Iranian users with elementary education use VPNs, meaning two out of three users, indicating that this tool is not exclusive to the educated class. The use of VPNs is higher among users with higher education.
In the past year, posts from Iranian channels on Telegram had a total of over 590 billion views.
