“Ehsan Chitsaz”, deputy minister and head of the digital economy committee, announced the ministry’s plan to issue a license for an AI operator.
According to Ideaagency, in a meeting attended by members of the Chamber of Commerce, the Deputy Minister of Communications emphasized the importance of entering the world of AI while pointing to the long history of the Ministry in the field of information technology, from post and telegraph to broadband, and said: “The Ministry of Communications has always been at the heart of technological developments and continues to advance.”
He added: “In all these developments, people’s digital rights and data were and are our priority. We are trying to create a safe and transparent environment with up-to-date regulation so that companies and startups can operate easily and people can be sure of their privacy.”
In the continuation of the meeting, Chitsaz explained the operational plans of the Ministry of Communications and announced the imminent issuance of the artificial intelligence operator’s license. He said: “The Ministry of Communications will soon issue a license for an AI operator. This action is a big step for the transparency and organization of artificial intelligence activists and a sign of the serious determination of the high official of the ministry to develop digital infrastructure and draw a new future for the country’s economy.”
Emphasizing the central role of the private sector in the development of the digital economy, the Deputy Minister of Communications stated: “Our goal is for the government to intervene only in cases where the sector Private is not able to do it. We are looking to create a suitable platform for the activity of the private sector so that we can use the capacities of this sector in the best possible way.”
Chitsaz also pointed to successful global experiences in the field of AI and emphasized the importance of using these experiences to accelerate the development of this technology in the country: “The digital ecosystem, especially artificial intelligence, requires everyone’s cooperation.
The Ministry of Communications acts as a facilitator and provides the infrastructure, but the final success is the result of your individual efforts. Let’s turn Iran into one of the poles of AI in the region and the world.”
