Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-based Economy announced the creation of a national AI platform in March of this year as a trial version.
According to Ideaagency, Hossein Afshin, Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy of the Presidency, on the evening of Thursday, December 12, in a special news interview program, announced the conclusion of a contract with one of the country’s universities to create a national artificial intelligence platform and said: With this agreement, research in this field is in progress
The trial version of this platform will be released in March 2025 and the final version will be ready for use in September 2025. The statutes of the artificial intelligence organization have been drafted and are in the hands of the government, and I think that the statutes will be approved by the board of ministers and announced within the three-month period that has been set.
Afshin informed about the measures taken in the direction of training manpower specialized in the field of artificial intelligence and said: After compiling the title of university educational courses from the beginning of the academic year 2024, we approved 30 professors in this field and teaching in universities has started since October. The classes will be fully recorded and Persian educational content for artificial intelligence will be available by the end of December.
The scientific deputy of the president considered the National Organization of Artificial Intelligence as a planning and monitoring institution and said: This organization will not be an employer in any way; Because in the absence of dynamism and applicability of science in this organization, it will have negative effects on the development of artificial intelligence in the country. This organization examines the programs and activities of the ministries in the field of artificial intelligence and will seek to approve and monitor their implementation.
According to Afshin, obstructing the activities of the ministries in this field is unacceptable and the main goal of the organization is to promote and monitor the development of artificial intelligence in the country.
Strengthening infrastructure, savior of knowledge-based springs
In this conversation, the vice president of science, technology and knowledge-based economics of the presidency discussed the situation and challenges of knowledge-based companies in 1402 and announced: In this year, knowledge-based companies managed to earn an income equal to $29B, of which $6B were the share of knowledge-based products. was Also, these companies have exported about two billion dollars, of which about 500 million dollars are related to the export of knowledge-based products.
Afshin also mentioned the existing challenges and added: We must accept that some of our activities need to strengthen the infrastructure. Our short-term mistake was to focus on doing big things with the knowledge-based companies after they took off.
The President’s vice president for science and technology and knowledge-based economy, in the continuation of his speech, referred to the “Knowledge-Based Production Leap” law as one of the most effective laws in this field and stated: “The Leap of Knowledge Law is a very good law and if fully implemented, it promises to strengthen the infrastructures It will be the country.
My main concern is that in the process of approving budget laws, no provisions are introduced that would harm parts of this key and influential law. Unfortunately, less than 10% of this law has been implemented so far, but we are committed to increase this amount to more than 80% with continuous follow-up and thus fundamentally strengthen the country’s infrastructure.
Referring to the importance of using tax credit in supporting research and development activities, Afshin said: In many countries of the world, tax credit was used as a tool to encourage investment in research and development; In Iran, due to the lack of a suitable law, this possibility was not available. Now, according to Articles 11 and 13 of the Knowledge-Based Production Leap Law, companies can enter their tax expenses in line with investment in research and development.
Citing an example from the technology industry, the president’s science and technology vice president said: In the 1990s, Japan was at the top of the chip and microelectronics manufacturing companies. But due to not continuing the path of research and development, we saw the decline of this country’s position. Technology teaches us that we need to run continuously and move faster at each step than before.
Technology development is a continuous and stable process. I will stand at the highest point and stop all the obstacles in the way of knowledge-based companies; My goal is to create a light-winged and dynamic deputy, without any bureaucracy, that the problems of individuals and companies can be followed closely. I will not allow public companies to enter the fields where private and knowledge-based companies perform well.
For this purpose, in the Scientific Vice-Chancellor, we organize a steering council for knowledge-based companies in a targeted manner, which prevents the arbitrary entry of state-owned companies into the markets covered by knowledge-based companies.
Holding the exhibition “Made in Iran” to supply raw materials
Afshin also announced the holding of the 12th edition of the “Made in Iran” exhibition and said: This exhibition started on Friday, December 13, at the same time as the research week.
He considered strengthening the research infrastructure of universities, research centers and displaying the achievements of knowledge-based companies in the field of supplying raw materials and laboratory equipment as the main goal of holding this exhibition.
Afshin explained: In this exhibition, knowledge-based companies active in supplying raw materials and laboratory equipment used in research fields gather to display their products and capabilities.
He also announced the simultaneous holding of the exhibition of the achievements of knowledge-based companies located in science and technology parks and universities of the country.
